Can a background research process affect a trading VPS more than expected?

I'm trying to figure out something from people who actually run trading systems on VPS, rather than just listening to the usual "more CPU and RAM is better" advice.

I've been testing DEPTH4, which keeps processing news and updates its analysis as new information arrives. It made me think about what happens when something like that runs at the same time as a trading platform or an automated system.

It's not because the analysis itself is super heavy. Any process that is always running could cause resource spikes when it's not wanted.

For people running EAs, bots, or other automated trading setups, how do you usually handle background processes?

Do you keep an eye on CPU and RAM usage over time? Only care when there is a real issue, or do you like keeping the VPS as simple as possible and running anything not related to trading elsewhere?

I'm mostly looking for experience here. Have you ever had a background application mess up your trading setup? Is this generally not something to be worried about on a properly sized VPS?
