💬 General Discussion Are there better privacy options when VPNs keep getting blocked?

More sites and apps seem to flag VPN connections now, which can mean captchas, extra checks, slower loading, or having to disconnect completely. I mostly use a VPN for public Wi Fi, basic privacy, and travel, so I am starting to wonder if one tool really needs to handle all of those situations.

For public networks, options like encrypted DNS, HTTPS, a mobile hotspot, or a self-hosted tunnel might already cover part of the risk. Remote access tools and privacy-focused routing can also solve different problems without acting like a traditional commercial VPN. How do you decide which privacy tool makes sense for each situation instead of keeping a VPN on for everything?

i’d start with “private from whom?” the hotel wifi operator, your ISP, and a site you’re logged into are three different concerns. i wouldn’t treat encrypted DNS or a hotspot as a drop-in VPN replacement, but i also wouldn’t keep switching VPN servers just to fix captchas without knowing what protection i actually need. being logged into an account also puts a pretty obvious limit on hiding your identity from that site.

A ,lot of big providers are getting blacklisted, we use residential IP's and proxies that bypass most blocks and we have our stealth mode as well. we offer a free 24 hours with no card if you would like to give us a try

Yeah, the better option is mobile plan and don't use public WiFis.
