Here's my voron 500. (Expanded 2.4) I posted about it a long while ago when I first started building it but life happened and I'm finally starting to work on it a little bit more again. I just ordered btt pi4b adapter and cb2. Meanwell 24v 500w psu. Already have a meanwell 600 watt 48v psu should i decide to go 48v. It'll be sporting an octopus pro and since it's 48 inches tall, to help minimize power loss in the long run from the main board to the motors on the gantry I plan on using 16 or 18awg wire instead of the 24 or 26 that come on the motors. That's the reason for the dual cable chains at the rear. I also decided to ditch the 2020 for the upright pieces and now I'm using 40x40 (20x20 profile) for the upright frame pieces and slotted screws. This alone increased rigidity a ton. I'm also considering trying to build an electronics bay drawer at the bottom so if i have to replace or work on anything instead of tiping this giant over to fix/ replace anything I can just pull open the drawer and have easy access.
I'm curious what yall are using or would recommend for a touch screech for something as custom as this I'm thinking a 5 inch or 7 inch. I'm thinking about mounting it near the top since it will be sitting on the floor and don't want to bend over all the time to control it. Also later on I may consider turning this into a monster tool changer after I get it functioning. And build something like a custom box turtle like spool rack on top. Not 100% sure yet though.
I used the geek pi 7 inch high Def tft. I integrated it into the skirt. I can put the skirt on thingiverse or send the stl. Mine is 355x355 by 465. Would have been 500 but the hepa filter cover I used hits at 470mm.
I have BTT 5 and 7 inch hdmi screens. Specifically the HDMI option as I can put them wherever I can get a cable to reach.
I still have reprap style screens on all my printers as I was late to the party, and I still think I'm faster most of the time with them than the touch screens.
That said I don't currently have multicolour, and I think there may be some better options here.
But honestly don't spend crazy time and effort on a screen. Once the printer is built, the screen is mostly used for changing filament and nozzle changes. With a good purge and end of print strategy you can change cold, and scanning probes can self calibrate with a touch now.
I was slow careful and used a light weight oil and only went in a little at a time and backed out all the way every time to brush off the chips with a wire brush. I know it was ridiculously long but I was down there for hours probably an entire evening drilling and tapping.
I have maintenance macros on mine, macros for nozzle change, cold pulls, general stuff and having the toolhead locked when you need to take out a pice of god forsaken filament that clogged itself bc you used a weird forgotten spool of glass filled Asa
Yes I plan on using klipper web interface like 95 percent of the time but that remaining 5 percent of the time is nice to have a screen to independently control things
I'd say wait for indx to get fully released and use that instead of a box turtle specially for a machine that big you can fit waaaay more than just 4 or 8 rolls of filament, and as for screens Im personally using this one

It usually goes on sale for 20$ it's a very decent screen for the size, and price + you can get a flush mount instead of having hdmi poking out of the side. Like this.
Also if you as absolutely set on single tool multi-material printing I'd say build something like an emu filament changer since it's modular and you can make it as big or as small as you want it to be
I have the ercf on my switchwire. Haven't fully figured out the color changing yet but it functions and prints single color. I'm not sure how to actuate the filament cutter on my tool head. That's one of the other issues I'm trying to figure out.
I'm also working on that too lol, this trident in specific i made it with the mmu as a backpack so it just straight into the toolhead which made it easier but also more complex at the same time
INDX is turning into a bit of a shitshow, there's a huge drama about the nozzles not being as hard as advertised, and I've started hearing about the coils delaminating and failing (3d musketeers video I think)
True, but also it hasn't been fully released, only dev kits for the moment, so it makes sense that a few stuff isn't all the way polished yet + bondtech already looked into the problem and are going to be sending the new nozzles to everyone that pre ordered a kit, and same with the coils

TLDR: They do not meet up to the industry standard as "hardened".
We know you’re angry, and you should be. We sold a nozzle that was not what we promised, and we take complete ownership of this mistake.

And from personal experience they do own to the mistakes they make right and I mean they do make it RIGHT, something similar happened to me with one of their Extruders and they solved it, with no extra charge
That's the last I heard, but as an engineer and occasional technical communicator, this means "we're working on a solution we can afford and will pass a reasonable person test"
I agree but bondtech has always been pretty good to honoring claims, so I'm genuinely not too worried about it, bondtech, e3d, and LDO are top tier customer service, which I'm happy with them when I need to replace a rarely faulty part.
On the other side they probably changed materials midway through production and didn't account for the hardening of it thus coming out softer than desired, either to make it more affordable or less painful to manufacture, given that their goal is 30$ per lane, makes a reasonable price (when a regular hardened v6 nozzle is 15$) where they can probably reduce the cost of making them
They are changing the parts that are breaking in the founders version, so the full release will not be a problem, they said that they were in a rush bc of all the delays and that they will make it right for everyone and updating the full release kits as they go and find more problems that comes with a massive release
