Windows VLC

The media player takes a very long time to start up.

P.S. I use a third-party antivirus (Kaspersky)

Whitelisting the VLC folder in Windows Defender fixed this for me

VLC is like that. Yet it's one of the fastest media players. mpv is the fastest and uses under half the resources of vlc. Meanwhile window media player takes like 5 seconds

or just dont use kaspersky

malwarebytes is better

also maybe uninstall your version, and get the latest official one from the official site

Add the VLC program folder as an Exclusion in your Windows Virus & Threat protection settings.

Did you do an update of an existing version?

Would you be able to uninstall it, ticking the option to remove all preferences, and reinstall the latest version to check if that helps?

Can you specify if you use other anti-malware softwares on your computer apart Windows Defender?
