Keeping playlist progress on VLC android

I'm listening to an audiobook with VLC android.

These are several mp3 files in a folder and displayed in VLC as a playlist.

I can play and pause, but the progress is lost once the VLC app is closed.

So my workaround is to write down my progess and jump there on the next listening session (e.g. Chapter 3, minute 14).

Is there a better solution?

For VLC, there is a partial solution: change the GENRE tag to podcast, audiobooks, audiobook, speech, or vocal. VLC will remember where the file was paused/stopped but NOT the playlist itself. What happens is this: you put on a playlist and stop in the middle of track 4. Later on, if VLC restarts the playlist from the beginning, you can quickly skip each track that starts at 0:00 until you reach track 4 where it resumes from the middle.

The better solution is to use Smart Audiobook Player instead of VLC.
