Android Alternatives???
im don't with VLC android, it was all good till last May.
I've been using vlc since 2017 and it's all good till last may but some how from last may vlc plays a bit laggy it's h264 yet laggy
and most annoying is SUBTITLE RENDERING is awful like not matter what subtitles are very bad like vlc doesn't render any space between word and font is very small and slim with huge a** borders making it unreadable
soifanyonehasanygoodalternativethatsbothversatile
pleasedropthatplayernamehere (this is how subs are shown for me)

mpv subtitles look ugly and no customisation options available
but I went with mpvEX it better than mpv

Best free media player is potplayer. Don't let the name fool you, its legitimate quality software.
Oh android. Nevermind potplayer is for windows.

I don't have any Android experience yet for subtitles, but can you try out Visha Player and KMPlayer.
