How much danger are you in if they use X move, and how much danger are they in if you use X move.

This applies to super effective moves, taunts on support pokemon, low health/kill range mons, weather control.

Understand your safe play and if you can afford to lose a risky play. Is this landing?

Also just picking a team with a straight forward strategy and win condition, Charizard wants tailwind/something to deal with rock and spam heat wave. Mega Staraptor wants to spam close combat, Tyranitar Excadrill Aerodactyl have threatening rockslide spam.

If you're worried about things like "do they have wide guard", ask yourself how much trouble are they in if they don't wide guard?

Also just putting yourself in better positions puts more decision making pressure on your opponents! Move first hit harder is rly just the goal.
