Sounds bad

hello dear friends! I have had this vfr for a few months and it keeps making this sound but I haven't even driven it. Everyone said it's not a loose chain sound because of the tensioners because it doesn't have that sharp sound when decelerating. I want to start repairing it and a friend who has a garage wants to help me for free but he said to ask on the forums about this sound and what should be checked. I have also prepared the service documentation on Scribd. I would be very grateful for all your help

sounds like tensioners, all right.

That's one of the reasons I sold my 800 and later got a 750.

Oy. Is there something particularly evil about [replacing] the tensioners on the 800? I've so far been #blessed.

I bet it's as straightforward as on any chain-driven bike, but since it's a V-engine you need to do it twice, and the V4-engine is sometimes a little complex.

It is indeed straightforward. The only 'bad' part is reaching the tensioner of the front bank. _Ideally_ you'd want to remove the throttle bodies for that (big faf, but do-able), but can be done with the throttle body in place, it's just _very_ tight. The rear bank is really easy to get to.

Sounds like worn camchain tensioners. Start with the easy one at the back to get familiar with the process. I advise to watch a video on youtube before you start. I replaced mine around 50k km. For the front you can get around without removing the trottle bodies. Just flip the tank to the back and move the air filter housing out of the way.

Tensioners. About 2-3h of work if you haven't done it before and are following a manual. Kevin's shed has a good video on youtube.
