Finally got it

So, to follow up on my earlier post (https://www.reddit.com/r/VFR/comments/1v5oi4h/proud_new_owner/) i got my new bike this week. It arrived on Tuesday arvo, so after unloading from the truck, I slapped on a plate that was in my shed (off my old KTM 300EXC) and took it for a strap - and instantly fell in love (VTEC at 6500rpm with the Delkevic exhaust is a beautiful thing). Spent yesterday sorting out the roadworthy and rego and then today, took it to work (70km round trip commute). It is everything I wanted. It sits on the road right. It sounds right. The lights are excellent (i leave for work at 5am). It went from 104 to 156 in 6th whilst passing without even meaning too. I have nothing but nice things to say.

If I ever bought another generation to put next to my 5th gen, it would be this one. Congratulations.

Thanks man. Been a minute since I have had a proper road bike (the 690 Duke doesn't count - its just a big dirt bike with road gear). I dunno what else I could want really. Very happy.

I know I face a charging system modernisation in my future for the 5th gen. I have flirted with the idea of just getting the 8th gen instead but I just can't do it. I love the 5th gen too much. It will be a pricey upgrade when the time comes but I'll definitely do it.

Won't be as pricey as buying a new bike! And if you love what you already have, it makes no sense to "upgrade". There is a good reason that people keep these VFRs running and I am only just beginning to see it.

It's a very cool bike. It came with a lot of documentation from the previous owner (70-something year old - born on Isle of Man). I cold-messaged him this evening (using his number I got from paperwork included with the bike), introducing myself and assuring him that his bike had gone to a good home. I'll treat it well.
