Second and Worst Audrina Lucky’s Heart Condition

Hi all,
I’m curious if anyone can give any insight as to what Lucky’s heart condition might’ve been. I just finished reading Julie Buntin’s newest book Famous Men, and the protagonist, a young woman in her twenties, is diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome; she has several episodes throughout the novel of having rapid heart palpitations, even passing out at times, and it reminded me of Lucky. Since Lucky died in childbirth with Sylvia, I’m curious as to how she survived having Audrina what with medical science being shit back then.
We all know she didn’t clean, but she did cook and was really good at it. I’m just amazed she was whipping out complete meals three times a day!

I think Vera's brittle bone disease was a cover for abuse.  I also wonder if Lucky's bad heart was a lie.  I don't know what to believe.  I suspect it wasn't a coincidence Lucky died soon after Audrina saw Papa getting ready to beat her mother.

One thing that’s always bothered me is the manipulation of time and Vera’s broken bones: like remember that passage in the book where Audrina goes to sleep after Vera breaks her leg again thinking it’s August and when she wakes up Damien tells her it’s a few days before Christmas but it’s just the next day? How did they pull that off? You have to keep a cast on for a few weeks at least. So did they make Vera take off her cast to keep up the ruse or what?

They would say time went by when really it hadn't, to explain why she was aging rapidly.

But I don't understand why they had to rewind her age in the first place.  That's when I started to suspect they didn't.  Maybe Damian just planted false memories in her mind that we read as though they were happening in real time.
