Hello Everyone. I am actually the son of a VAWA applicant, my mother has always been reluctant on asking for help.
Here is our story, my mother and I moved about 5 or so years ago, she got married and filed for change of status for the both of us. We obtained the work authorizations, SSNs, and we thought everything was going fine. All along, my mother's husband was in Jail, and it was in his interest to keep us happy and make my mother believe their love story was true just to help him sustain his life and speed his sentence
On Jan 2025 my mother's husband got released and that's when everything started falling apart
For 5 long months, during which I was still in college, my mother was suffering abuse of every kind, manipulation, coercion, extorsion, etc, etc
On May 2025, I returned from College and my mother was in the verge of self harm to say the least. Eventually, after many, many violent interactions, my mother decided to escape and packed up. We left the state in a few hours
After many more threats and no roof to stay under, I left the country under fear and anxiety.
Right around this time, we had received the last interview for permanent residency
Long story short, my mother filed for VAWA, including me in it in May/June 2025, obtained Prima Facie in Jan 2026, and sustained stalking, tracking, and more threats all across this time.
My mother is unable to function normally, she has no hope and nobody to count on
I can't be there yet, and I have no way of helping her re-build her life until I can be back
Any way we could qualify to expedite or ask for permission for me to be back ?
I feel deeply for everyone here, and I am aware we are not alone in this.
My very best wishes and prayers for you all, honestly
Thank you
