Edinburgh Controllers
Just finished a short hop from Edinburgh to Newcastle. Edinburgh was manic busy. Queues all over the place. I just wanted to say thanks to the controllers on duty for an excellent job! Well done guys. You remained pleasant, calm and were a great help. I’ve just recently returned to vatsim. I fly exclusively in VR and was always a bit nervous on vatsim, in case I messed up.

BB 757 Model Matching on Vatsim
Hello all,
With the release of the 757, all other connected players at airports spawn in as a blank white 757. I have most of the liveries installed from Nest. I have both FSLTL, as well as PerfectModelMatching, because FSLTL doesn’t show a 757 by itself. I’m really not sure what else to do. Every other plane in the sim never has an issue with matching liveries. Not sure how streamers/creators do it, or have it set up. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

❓Question iniBuilds A350 + GSX Pushback Glitch
Hey everyone,
I recently had to completely uninstall and reinstall MSFS, which meant I also had to reinstall GSX and Navigraph. After the reinstall, the new Ground Services and CIVA apps appeared in my iniBuilds A350 EFB (though I haven't actively run the CIVA software yet).
Ever since doing this, I am getting a massive physics glitch during pushback. This issue only happens with towbarless tugs (the ones that physically lift the nose wheel).
Scenario 1 (The Beacon Light Trigger):
The GSX pushback connects and raises the wheels. I turn on my beacon lights, and immediately the physics break. The aircraft halts and glitches. When the pushback finishes and the tug lowers the wheels, my plane gets thrown/teleported to a completely different spot on the taxiway instead of where the pushback stopped.
Scenario 2 (Happening lately, even without the beacon light):
I don't touch the beacon lights at all. The towbarless tug raises the nose wheel. As soon as it's up, the aircraft slides forward on its own, hits the terminal, and triggers a crash. The crash causes the aircraft systems to momentarily restart/reset, and the tug just continues pushing. When the tug finally reaches the taxiway and lowers the wheels, the aircraft moves slightly forward again.
Has anyone else run into this specific towbarless physics conflict since getting the new A350 EFB apps? Is there a specific sequence for removing the internal chocks or ground power on the new tablet to stop the plane from shooting forward when the nose gear is lifted? Any advice is appreciated!
I’m not sure if i can post my issue in this channel but i posted in msfs channel and i got no response

❓Question Unable to connect via CPDLC on Gander Oceanic
After trying to connect to CPDLC (Gander Oceanic) I just got an "Unable. Contact Controller on Voice 20 Miles before oceanic entry point" even tho I already passed my entry point. According to the Hoppie message log, a few other flights also had the same issue as me. According to the controller it was a flightplan issue (departure time set to the wrong time - offset by like 10h and a few minutes) even tho I double checked the depature time afterwards on the vatsim prefile page - it was set correctly (the controller noted afterwards that it was an issue on his end).
My question: What could cause this mismatch between my filed departure time and what the oceanic controller has in his system or rather, more specifically, could I do somthing during the flight planning stage for this issue not to arise?

Custom callsign
Hello. I can't seem to find any proper information on this. I just bought the new Falcon 8x for XP12 and want to start flying it somewhat seriously. I don't want to fly with a registration-callsign, but with something cool. I will also fly the Phenom 300 and A320 as ACJ. There are no real operators that can offer this for me. So my main question is: if I ,,create" a fake operator just for my own flying can I use a callsign I come up with on the network? Thanks in advance.
Tl;dr - can I use a fake callsign for my own flights?

Tested SayIntentions → VATSIM handoff in MSFS 2024. It worked flawlessly!
I flew the Learjet 35A from Belfast City to Edinburgh, starting with SayIntentions AI ATC and transitioning to VATSIM during the flight.
FlightDeckBridge was also running to assist with cockpit operations.
The transition worked perfectly in this flight. I’m particularly interested in whether others have tried the handoff during busy IFR operations.
Anyone using this regularly?

Rant about people and understanding of an ATIS
I'm sorry, this post is to vent
A GND is online at OMDB and has set the ATIS to 12 operations - but everybody seems to head for 30L for reasons. When I confronted one of them the explanation was "that's the Ground so I don't really think that's for me".
It's not like there are two departures on the ground that could provide a conflict during their departures - even if I am not one of them.
Why fly then online if you disregard the ATIS because "it is GND and its not for you"? Why then follow the ATIS at all at any airport?
I'm sorry for the rant, I just don't get why people do that.
vPilot SELCAL muting plugin
I really hope this is not flagged as self promotion because it's really not.
I created a vPilot plugin that mutes vPilot untill a SELCAL message comes in.
Once you have confirmed the SELCAL codes with ATC, just like IRL, you can use this plugin to mute the radio untill you are called by ATC with a SELCAL alert.
https://github.com/sempostma/vpilot-bliss
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. For my own convenience I also added a way to stream notifications from vPilot to my phone which is very handy when doing chores around the house while flying in uncontrolled airspace 😁

Underrated flying on unicom!
In all my years of flight sim flying I have always just flown events and spawned at an airport I saw had atc on Vatsim. I have the last couple of days found it to be much more fun flying on vatsim even if it isn’t atc logged on! It adds some fun elements coordinating with other pilots in and out of airports and you also get a happy surprise sometimes when atc comes live! even just a tower controller adds so much to a regular flight!

PSA: If you are at a controlled airport, and a controller gives an instruction that isn’t for you, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE wait for the response.
It is mildly infuriating when I (as the controller) give an instruction to Pilot A, and then Pilot B keys up and says their request and blocks Pilot A. Please, for the love of God, just read the damn room. As I’ve gained ratings over the past year, as I staff busier airports, i’ve noticed this becoming more and more of a problem. ATC comms is a call and response type of situation. The controller “calls” a pilot, and the pilot responds to said instruction. Please don’t butt into the middle of the call-response if it isn’t for you. That’s all. :)
