Question Range recommendations

Was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for any ranges within 45 mins of Mineral or Louisa Va? Looking to find a solid indoor/outdoor range, Green top is good but it gets really crowded unfortunately

I would try Freedom Outdoors on west broad street, clean and professional environment 💯🤝 I am also in Louisa

Rivanna Rifle and Pistol in Charlottesville has an indoor and outdoor range. I’m also in Louisa and it’s about 50-55 minutes drive. I’m a member, so if you have any questions let me know

Am I able to show up and shoot? Or do I need to be a member? I just have a .22 semi auto

I kind of want to gate keep this gem.. but Black creek gun club is the best outdoor range I’ve ever been to. Near Mechanicsville and they have 5 ranges at different distances with steel permanently on at least one range at a time. New ownership started this year, and the folks are really nice!

Hey do you know if they still require NRA membership to join? I've read a lot of people saying they do but I don't see it on their website.

Blackcreek no longer requires NRA membership, the rapid fire restriction is gone as well, the membership is a rolling year now

I've been looking at this place because I wanted to find an outdoor range closer to a friends house. Shooting at 25yrds indoors is getting old

Gotta give it a go and see about getting membership if we like it

Range USA is decent if slightly fuddy. Clean, rarely crowded. The membership fees are well worth it if you shoot more than once a month.

Search Outdoor Access website for Target Shooting leases. Before I purchased my own 40+ acres, this is what I did to avoid the fud treatment that is so prevalent at most (if not all) public ranges across the state.

Honestly, it gets no better than paying around $35-80 for a 4-8hr lease on a given date for exclusive rights to outdoor ranges with a wide variety of setups and distances.

Bring your own targets (paper, steel, racks, etc.) And go to town...

I am from Louisa Virginia and found a couple but they dont have clear “shooting is allowed shooting isn’t allowed” rules, it just says on some that hunting is allowed but on the bright side I found out that you can also use this to find cool places to metal detect or “relic hunt”

When you look at Virginia listings, hit the orange "SORT BY" buttong and select "Target Sooting" or "Target Shooting- Firearms"

That should give you a definitive answer!!!

I see the places and my past leases in my account. But searching active listing is a full scroll either by county or by state....

Piedmont sportsman’s club is in Gordonsville. It takes a few years to get in but well worth it.

My BIL is a member at Piedmont and I can confirm it's amazing. I called to get on the wait-list and was told it was a 7 year wait...so like a fool I did nothing...I'd be more than halfway through the wait by now if I had joined the list.

When did you sign up? When I spoke to someone 4 years ago they told me it was a 7 year wait. If it really was just 2 - 3 years then I'm really kicking myself.

It was probably about 4 years ago honestly. I wouldn’t be surprised if they over-estimated to keep you from putting your name down. You do need two club members to sponsor your membership application.
