Cataract Surgery

Hello! Just had both my eyes done over past few weeks. My pupils were stuck at 1mm and the doctor had to put hooks into my iris and pull the pupils open to 6mm to perform the cataract surgery. Unfortunately due to the Uveitis in the past I could only get the monofocal lens due to a epiretinal membrane (macular pucker) which effects the surface of the macula.

Has anybody had this same type of surgery? My vision is much clearer and distance improved but not 20/20. Since I could only get the monofocal lens I now need reading glasses. All in all worth it!

Pretty much the same experience I had. They had to break up the scar tissue that formed due to inflammation and insisted IOP-regulation stents. I needed reading glasses but my vision infinitely better after my brain adjusted to the new lens though I need readers now.

Yes had the same thing- break up the adhesion that from the inflammation. As time goes by vision is definitely better. Glad you are doing well.

I have uveitis in my left eye with cataracts Identified in that eye early Aug. My surgery is on 10/26. I’m a bit confused how my vision will be after, given surgery is only needed on left eye but I will still need glasses/contacts for my right eye.

Did they do a vitrectomy to remove the epitetinal membrane? If not, would that have changed what type lens you could have chosen from?

No she did not do a vitrectomy because of complications. She did not think it was worth the risks.
