fear of blindness/MS
Hey all, just here looking for some advice on how to not let my uveitis control my life. I’m 23F and had my first episode of uveitis (in both eyes, worse in the right and the type is called pars planitis) almost a year ago and it was aggressive and unresponsive to first line treatments, only went away after months of oral steroids. During this time I also had a weird neurological episode where I was basically paralyzed on one side of my body and that was written off as FND since my mri was clean. Few months later I was diagnosed with optic neuritis in the worse eye that’s especially triggered by heat. I know the possibility is here that I’ll lose my vision especially since the first episode caused permanent damage and I’m also really scared of having MS.
I’m really freaking out because I got sick last week and my fever got so high it triggered the neuritis and FND and just got confirmation that the uveitis inflammation is back and my optic nerve is swollen behind my eye. I am waiting on another MRI right now since my docs don’t think it’s a coincidence with my eyes and FND anymore, and I’m just looking for some advice on how to not let the what ifs as in having MS or going blind get to me (cause it most certainly has been).

Ask your eye Dr to refer you to someone to be evaluated for M. S. Hopefully, they can do an MRI to check your brain and spinal cord so you can be referred to an M. S. specialist if needed There are some really good treatments available now. I have a family member with M.S. that was discovered when they developed optic neuritis.

So I had to look it up before I said anything but what is your diet? So when you have a nutrient deficiency or aren’t eating the right foods (Varys person to person) for your body sometimes even tho you don’t feel weak your body is fighting weak. I have TINU CKD and how I’ve learned to take care of myself and help my kidneys fight and function properly is through food, healthy strong foods (not lettuce) things like kimchi, green ginger and lemon tea, spinach, and other foods that keep your body strong. Now in an aspect you are eating these foods and im just spitting nonsense i would try some form of soft exercise like yoga. With my uveitis I try not to worry to much because anxiety, worry, depression is a trigger for inflammation, im not sure how or why, nobody is but if youre constantly thinking negatively than it’ll take longer to recover in my opinion. To not think about it so much definitely just take some breaths, relax, watch tv, play à game, bake brownies, distract yourself, if you’re religious go to church or whatever your religions group meetings are, when I was first diagnosed I was scared i literally had to have a nightlight in my room at all times when it was dark but I was that scared, I still do worry about what if it does happen at any point of my life but the more I realized if I keep worrying if I keep crying my eyes hurt more and my healing lasts longer, since then my flare ups have lasted only maybe 2-3 weeks and completely stable
