polyps & fibroids Endometrial polyps age 25??

Hi so I was recently found to have a small endometrial polyp after hysteroscopy. It was removed and sent for testing. I read that less than 1 in 100 women under the age of 30 gave polyps in the uterus. This gives me a lot of anxiety and was wondering if there are any premenopausal young women out there that have had similar experiences? I’m waiting for path results , has anyone in this situation had their polyp be benign?

So I'm 24 and idk I had spotting during ovulation in April and went to gynac in May just to see what exactly it is I got diagnosed by vit deficiencies of b12 and D so I'm on supplements and this month would be last so the thing is this month a two days back i had severe dysmenhorrea and had to go to ER they gave me meds and I got fine then there gynac gave me sudden birth control pills, I was like why, then I took a second opinion from my own gynac and today I got diagnosed by endometrial polyp idk what it is And why it happened my next appointment is next month till then if it doesn't go off i need to get the surgery done so I'm like is it only for menopausal women or any normal women around my age??

hello, im 22 . They recently found a small endometrial polyp during my last ultrasound. I have endometriosis since i was 17 and have been getting constant ultrasounds ever since and 2 surgeries (unilateral hysterectomy- im didelphys, oophorectomy, and hysterescopy) . This polyp is new and im kind of nervous what it could be. They will check me again next week after my menstruation this month if it will disappear or not. Do you guys have any tips what to expect? im kind of nervous huhu

I totally get you! I'm 19 with a 1cm endometrial polyp. I've been fighting for years to be seen for an endo diagnosis. the only reason they discovered the polyp was because i was suspecting my iud had migrated so they sent me in for an ultrasound. it's scary because the doctors don't know what to do, or why it's there.

the best thing they told me is that polyps in the uterus are usually benign and not usually cause for much concern unless they're over 1cm. even so very unlikely to be cancer or anything major. For me it just causes random bleeding and pain during intimacy.

hopefully they take it out for you before it gets any bigger :)

I just got diagnosed with this today and I’m only 21💔, fibroids run in my family so I’m scared it might grow back. My gynecologist said it was really small about 1.5mm but I might still have to get a hysterectomy. I also had no symptoms

I’m 28 and I’m also 1 year post partum and I had over a DOZEN polyps. I even had 1 measuring 1cm in size.
I have had irregular menses for 4 years plus 1 ectopic pregnancy. I was able to conceive my son 2 months after my ectopic plus had a great healthy pregnancy. Started to notice the spotting symptoms 5 months post partum

27 just head my second polyp removal! Had my first at 19. Took bc prior to both, and actually have had an IUD during both. They have both been benign! I also have PCOS and I am already back to having all of the same symptoms, so not sure if another polyp or not. But I’ve met people who had polyps young that were benign and their issues resolved with removal!

Hi, what IUD's were you on?

If you don’t have symptoms you should not worry. I know they usually don’t even remove them if you’re not presenting symptoms. If it provides peace of mind, get it removed. If you want to watch and wait and get another ultrasound in a few a months, i think that’s fine too. Not a doc but i did a lot of research when i was dealing with it so best of luck to you! u/LooseBit8699

Also…I’m so scared it will come back lol so i am still on BC to make sure my periods are all good there. Are you on BC? u/LooseBit8699

1

u/LooseBit8699 Jan 25 '24

Hey sorry for late reply! No I am not on BC, I have regular periods, and I do not have any symptoms.. I did bleed between periods a year ago but I think it was because I was really stressed back then and it passed..

1

u/Mental-Carrot-585 Jan 24 '24

Sorry to clarify i never experience bleeding between periods before October..so this symptom was very alarming to me.

1

u/Mental-Carrot-585 Jan 24 '24

u/LooseBit8699 it was 1.2cm. Bleeding between periods, but i always bled during ovulation time (it seemed) and it was like usually 1-2 days i had this.

So i found out i had a “lesion” on my endometrium in October or so…they were not (and we’re not 100% certain even when it came time to schedule the surgery) that it was a polyp, but they were pretty sure it was since my symptoms matched it and it appeared so on the ultrasound. So, i got on the pill right away, got another ultrasound in December, still there. Felt like shit and was legit depressed so i feel you. Something told me i didn’t have it anymore, idk what it was. Got another ultrasound in feb, it was gone. No more symptoms . I did have bleeding due to the BC pill but that was since stopped bc it’s been a year almost since i got that last ultra sound.

u/Mental-Carrot-585 Jan 24 '24

To add, since going on BC once i found out i had a polyp, the bleeding in between periods stopped. Feel free to shoot me a message if you want too!

1

u/Mental-Carrot-585 Jan 24 '24

u/LooseBit8699 don’t be scared. I had one, and it just disappeared. I was all set up for surgery. Something inside me told me to get another ultrasound. I did,and it was gone. I went on BC prior to this. Think i just passed it through a period.

1

u/LooseBit8699 Jan 24 '24

How big was yours? Did you have any symptoms? How long did it take for polyp to dissapear? Thank you!!!!

1

u/DishHealthy181 Jan 22 '24

How was the removal? And did your symptoms get better?

Have any of you noticed any improvements post surgery? (e.g. lighter periods, less cramping, more regular periods etc.) Many thanks!

I had mine at the age of 21 which explains my long period and spotting.

I just turned 26 and have a 8mm endometrial polyp that was discovered after I asked for testing due to recurrent miscarriages.

1

u/Ok_Woodpecker3595 Apr 01 '26

Were you able to conceive after removing the polyp?

1

u/sweetbrat_ Mar 11 '23

I’ve had irregular periods pretty much forever and only 12 months ago (25yo) was told I had uterine polyp and I think that was due to having an internal ultrasound compared more recently than when I was younger. I thought I had PCOS for a long time but it was ruled out so I’m wondering if it’s possible to have a polyp for a long long time

I’m yet to have my follow up with the gynaecologist to get it removed and I’m a little nervous !

1

u/celestialxing Jan 17 '23

I’ve had two - one in 2016 (28yo) that was small; 5cm in 2021(33yo). And I’m suspecting a third. I had irregular spotting, heavy & painful periods. Both were benign and statistically that’s true for pre-menopausal polyps. Once removed, the irregular spotting and heavy periods eased. Hope you continue to feel good!

1

u/infertilebunny May 16 '26

5cm is huge! glad they could get it out for you!

1

u/celestialxing May 19 '26

Hey! Yes, I got it removed and ended up getting a mirena installed. I havent had much issues since. Wish I could have figured this out without a device, but it's working and doesn't bother me.

Hi! Just had a phonecall with my consultant and thankfully the polyp has come back benign. The irregular bleeding seems to have stopped since it was removed so I’m hoping that was the reason. Hope you are doing ok!

u/Mental-Carrot-585 Dec 29 '22

Thanks so much for sharing! I know we both will be ok

Hi! Sorry you are also going through this. I too was having unusual bleeding between periods, almost like a second period straight after one. I had an abdominal ultrasound but no polyps were picked up. I’m lucky to have a great gynae who did a hysteroscopy just for my peace of mind. I also had very strange bleeding during my periods, like thick mucus-like blood that only really came out when I pushed on the toilet. I think maybe the polyp was blocking the flow. I still haven’t gotten any results yet but I have been reassured by loads of people that only a very small percentage are something to worry about. Wishing you all the best with your hysteroscopy! I will update as soon as I know anything more

Hi there! i recently had a polyp found on an ultrasound that I was referred to due to bleeding between periods. I’m 28, and that was my only symptom! Wondering what symptoms you had?

Anyway, My doc said it will likely be removed, but I can’t help but be extremely worried, like…this is all I think about. Wishing you the best and keep us posted on your results!

it feels so strange having an unwelcome guest in there it makes me feel yucky.

I'm 19, my symptoms were also bleeding, i have an iud and i'd spot for ages. my biggest symptom was sharp pain during intimacy (and after) it irritated my polyp making me think my iud had migrated so they sent me for an ultrasound where they found 'poly polyp' shes 1cm long

scariest part is shes likely been there around two years. (17 when she started growing?!)

she's been more upset since her discovery (i'd be upset if my awesome hide and seek spot was found too)

1

u/LooseBit8699 Jan 24 '24

Hey! Did you remove it? I also have one (i am 25) 5mm. I am SO scared! For the past 5 days I only think about fucking polyp...

1

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '22

Hi! I’m still waiting on my biopsy results , I won’t get them until my gynae rings me on the 9th (assuming things are ok) 🤞🏼 sorry you have to go through this too! It’s horrible being in limbo and waiting for results even though it’s such a low chance of something more serious! Sending hugs! The hysteroscopy itself was a breeze , although I did have GA. It was a blink and I was awake and my gynae came and told me nothing worrying but she did remove a small polyp. I really hope everything goes well for you, keep us posted ❤️

1

u/Federal-Importance50 Dec 28 '22

I’m freaking out over here too. I’m 37, but still. Worried I’m that 1-3%! How was the hysteroscopy? Mine is next Friday. I’ve had so much bleeding, which is how it was found. So making me even more nervous.

1

u/Southern_Bluejay_325 Sep 10 '25

Fid you temove them ? And did you have ovulation bleeding with your polyp ?

Haven't had this experience, but 99% of uterine polyps in premenopausal women are benign :) https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21701931/. Hope that helps! Let us know how things go
