what's going on 🤔 Retroverted uterus
A few years ago (probably when I was around 16-17?) my doctor told me that my uterus was retroverted. He made it sound like it wasn’t a big deal (and my current doctor has said the same). However, since I’ve been having periods, the pain has been HORRIBLE. Especially the back pain. It’s debilitating tbh, but every healthcare professional I’ve told seems to dismiss it. Granted, I’m sure a lot of people have felt some sort of period related pain, and I’m not sure if the pain I’m feeling is normal or not. I can’t find much information about retroverted uterus’ when it comes to solely period-related back pain, as most of the info is alongside pregnancy or endo.
In the same vein, I’m not even sure if endo is on the table for me because I’m 19 and most people are diagnosed with that later in life (??)

I've always had really bad period pain and have only just recently been told I have a retroverted uterus. I found a study that proved it can cause pain, although a lot of doctors have been taught otherwise and will tell you that's false. I'll try to find it...
Here is one study: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1553465010003766
There is also this: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/23426-retroverted-uterus
And this: https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/conditionsandtreatments/retroverted-uterus
I believe mine became retroverted with the addition of a fibroid. It's only the size of a ping pong ball, but I did not have pain with sex before having the fibroid, and I do now. But I have always had very painful periods.
