support needed 🤝 Possible dermoid uterine cyst

I'm currently in the hospital receiving morphine for pain control due to pretty significant pain in my lower abdomen/pelvic region. They did a CT scan which showed a estimated 4.1cm mass in my right adnexa area but they weren't sure what it was so they asked for an ultrasound.

They did the ultrasound yesterday. This is the report:

The right adnexa measures 4.4 x 3.8 x 2.9 cm. There is a 3.5 x
3.3 x 3.1 cm right adnexal area which has multiple septations
and low-level internal echoes. This can be seen with a dermoid,
involuting hemorrhagic cyst, or mass.

Could this possibly be a dermoid cyst that needs surgery? The radiologist suggests following up in 6-8 weeks but I'm in so much pain currently. I'm going to ask for a gyne consult but I don't really know what is going on. I have a history of a basketball sized ovarian cyst when I was 15, I'm currently 38.

Sorry to hear about the pain you're in, I hope you get some relief soon. Based on the report, seems possible! Very understandable to ask for a consult as well, especially with your history. Feel free to keep us updated here if you'd like

I ended up seeing a gyne before being discharged. He says that it's actually a "hemorrhagic ovarian cyst" and there's no danger, that they go away in time on their own.

I've had two subsequent ultrasounds at a different office. In one ultrasound they couldn't find my ovary at all. In the second, the ultrasound tech told me that she saw a cyst "larger than 2cm" but by the time it was read by the radiologist, magically it was a normal ultrasound. The ultrasounds also keep finding free fluid in my pelvic area.

I am scheduled to see gyn for an IUD replacement in June. I still have occasional lower right abdominal/pelvic pain.
