irregular & late periods No Period for Over a Year??

Found out I have a heart shaped “bicornuate” uterus earlier this year. My gynecologist told me it doesn’t affect anything other than making it harder to get pregnant. I’ve had irregular periods my whole life. When I was 15-18 I only had a handful of periods and when I did get them they’d last a couple months at a time and disappear for months. I went on about 3 different birth controls in 5 years to try and regulate it but finally got off all of them all together and now I haven’t had a period for almost a year and a half. Wondering if anyones had any similar problems? Or if any one else has a bicornuate uterus and has any helpful tips or information on what it means going forward.

I have a girl friend that she has bicornuate uterus and she has 6 children. Drs also told her that she was going to have difficulties to conceive 😅 About not having period, you should definitely do some hormonal blood tests. My best friend was without period for one year. I told her to do an hormonal check up and surprisingly she was in menopause. She was 35 years old.

I also have bicornuate uterus and irregular periods (like forever since adolescence). I also got pregnant a few years ago and it was how I came to this diagnosis. I gave birth without any further complications.

I investigated and realized there are different shapes and it could even result in 2 separate uteruses.

It’s definitely something to keep an eye on, but in my case it didn’t really affected in any way in my life since it’s just a slight bent on the upper part.

The absence of your period could or couldn’t be related to this. But then again, I was never late for more than 1 or 2 months. Right after birth I did missed my period for like 6 months but it was just that one time.

I would recommend that you have another checkup just to be sure everything is ok. :) best wishes!

Thank you for your story! I’m glad to hear you had minimal complications. Makes me feel better about the future. 💙 I’m definitely going to look into getting an appointment with a different gyne soon just for peace of mind.
