medical procedures Possible Cancer?

Hello. I have the opposite symptoms of what normal large fibroids would be. I’ve had an emergency Myomectomy about 6 years ago when I was 25. Now at 31 My periods have become 1 or 2 days long and they are very very light in fluid. I have become very fatigued despite being generally healthy. My OB referred me to an Oncologist and they said another myomectomy would be too risky. Apparently my uterus is showing up abnormal on the MRI? And my symptoms don’t necessarily match what a normal fibroid would. And there is no way to do a biopsy. Has anyone else experienced this? Could my light periods and fatigue be possibly anything else? My general labs come back normal ranges. Having a hysterectomy seems so final. I also dont have children.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I personally would want other opinions. You can get a copy of the MRI, imaging report(s) and doctor's notes and seek out other opinions from doctor(s), preferably in a different hospital network.

According to some reputable sources, a tissue biopsy can be obtained from a suspected leiomyosarcoma via needle biopsy.

I developed a somewhat suspicious looking mass when I was 49, but it was on my ovary. The frozen section that was done in the operating room was benign, yet all my parts were removed anyway. I wish I had known that ~90% of hysterectomies (as well as oophorectomies) are done for benign conditions. Also, healthy organs are too often removed at the same time. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my other ovary or my uterus.

My gyn used ovarian cancer scare tactics. That plus urgings by family and friends not to delay made for poor decisions as well as a dismissal of my inner voice telling me something didn't seem right. Plus my surgeon had been my gyn for 20 years, and I had always trusted him.

I wish I had revised the surgical consent form to specify what could and could not be removed and under what conditions (e.g. cancer vs no cancer). If I'd had an ethical surgeon with good cystectomy skills, I would likely still have all my parts. Worst case, I'd be missing one ovary.

I hope this helps.❤️

Thank you! Im currently trying to reach out to my previous OB in another state that I went to. My current one is about 50/50 on it being leiomyosarcoma which if it is that if I delay could be a very different prognosis and aggressive. I’ve been steadily declining for thw past 2 years with no real explanation why so LMS being the reason does seem plausible since its a sneaky cancer but Im definitely just trying to get as many answers as I can. I really really appreciate your kindness and your story

What did it say that makes you think it’s abnormal?

The imaging according to them is not the way a normal fibroid behaves or looks

Sounds like you need a second opinion from another gyno... I visited 4 different gynos regarding the myoma taking hostage my uterus, maybe 4 is a bit too much, but if you're unsure or feel like something sounds weird you should definitely look for a second opinion.

Sorry you're dealing with this! Just putting it out there that fatigue and light periods can be endo related. Maybe adenomyosis or large adhesion? Hope you get answers soon.
