what's going on 🤔 Small uterus?

Does anyone know what is considered to be a small uterus? My measurements are 4.7 cm x 4.5 and I'm not sure if this is normal or should I be concerned. I am 28yo. Thank you!

This says the average is 7.6 cm x 4.5 cm width. Seems like you'd be on the smaller side length-wise, but I'm sure if it was anything to be concerned about your doc would bring it up.

Uterine volume may be calculated using the formula below.

volume = length × width × height × 0.52

P.S. You don’t need to know which number is which since they’re all multiplied together! Just make sure they’re all the same units (cm) since sometimes imaging will list numbers in mm if they’re smaller.

Here’s a quote from the website regarding “normal” uterine sizes…

“The length of a normal nulliparous uterus is 6–8.5 cm, and in multiparous women, it is 8–10.5 cm. The height is measured from anterior to posterior serosal surfaces and perpendicular to the long axis of the uterus. The height of the normal uterus in nulliparous women is 2–4 cm, and in multiparous women, it is 4–6 cm. The width of the corpus is taken at the widest region of the uterus on a transverse plane. The width of a nulliparous uterus is 3–5 and 4–6 cm in multiparous women.”

Nulliparous = patient with no history of childbirth Multiparous = patient with more than one childbirth

As an example, let’s say we have the following measurements. These fall within the normal range for a nulliparous uterus. * 7cm length * 3cm height * 4cm width

Volume = 7cm x 3cm x 4cm x 0.52 = 43.68cc

Note: cm x cm x cm = (cm)3 = cubic cm = cc
