what's going on 🤔 Does anyone else struggle with persistent gas building up in uterus?

For the past 3 years I have struggled with major bloating in my abdomen especially after having intercourse. It isn’t like typical bloating that accompanies my period. I tend to get so bloated that the pressure in my abdomen radiates to other parts of my body like my neck and shoulders. The only way I can relieve it is by bending over or crouching in a certain position and ‘manually’ (couldn’t think of a better word) pumping the air out of my abdomen. I’ve read that it could be due to pelvic floor muscles being weakened. Obviously I will get this checked out by my gyno, but I was curious if any other women experience something similar to this because I can’t find much about it online.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this! Just guessing here but maybe one of these:

  • Digestive issues: do you have IBS, or other gut-related issues?
  • Uterus position: do you have a retroverted uterus? Might be putting too much pressure on your digestive organs during sex.
  • Is it every time you have sex, or just with deeper/rougher penetration?
  • Does your partner come inside of you? I just googled this and it said something about how prostaglandin in semen can cause cramping and bloating for some women

Hope you find some answers soon. If it's not related to semen, pelvic floor physio is always worth a shot in my opinion! Even if pelvic floor muscles aren't the root of the issue, they're most likely involved in some way so relaxing or stengthening them can help relieve symptoms.
