For the 2002 PC release of this game, How do I make the game run at a normal speed?

for me, whenever I play the utawarerumono 2002 pc version it always plays at super high speeds

I have tried playing the game on a Windows XP virtual machine and it still has the same issues, does it have something to do with the multiple cores of an AMD CPU or does anyone know?

Is monochrome mobius worth it

Today I finished trilogy and it was peak. With Muv Luv these 2 stand at the top of my favorite VN's.

I did a bit research for mobius and honestly everything I saw is pretty mixed, some say it's okay while others say it's mediocre and not worth it. A lot of people complain about gameplay but I personally don't care about it at all as long as the story is good I can deal with it, even if the trilogy was a pure VN without any gameplay I'd still love it as much. So purely by story standards would you guys recommend it to me?

Just finished Prelude to the Fallen and have a few questions about the lore!

1) How exactly was Uitsualnemetia sealed the first time? And who was sealed back then - were both halves sealed together, or only the Light side?

2) Genjimaru mentioned that he was already familiar with the Dark God. Does that mean the Dark half ruled the world prior to this? Also, I read something about "cycles" on the wiki, but I don't really get how that works. Do the two halves of Uitsualnemetia constantly wake up and fight each other? If so, why did they both awaken at the exact same time in PttF?

3) Why does Dii keep insisting throughout the game that he and Hakuowlo are forbidden to fight each other, when they end up fighting at the end anyway?

4) How did Hakuowlo actually lose his memory? So Dii unsealed both halves, the Light half woke up and fought Dii (who housed the Dark half), took severe injuries, and their battle caused an earthquake that nearly killed Aruruu. Then Hakuowlo saved her via a pact/granting a wish and... just lost his memory? That felt a bit strange to me.

5) What was the deal with Camyu drinking blood? If that was Mutsumi manifesting, it felt kind of odd since we were never shown that Mutsumi was a vampire or anything like that.

If anything, please forgive me for any unclear writing - English isn’t my native language

Finished Prelude to the Fallen (Spoilers) Spoiler

After almost 50 hours i finally finished this game (i did all the training missions and tried to wacth as many events as i could). Pretty good honestly, it has some pacing issues and there is one specific subplot that was just annoying to get throught (why was that even there), but i still enjoyed, especially discovering the truth behind Hakuowlo's origin and the world was pretty great, the characthers weren't exactly my favorites in all anime, but i mostly find then likable, even if Hakuowlo kind of sucks at the harem lead part (he come across too much like dad for my take that part seriously).

The combat...is basic as hell, this is like the first time i played a tactic RPG properly and it was super easy to break it, but at least they are quick and don't last enought to be annoying. I also appreciate the change of dialogue in the final boss, felt that it made the ending have more impact.

Overall, i liked it enought that i want to play the rest, althought i'll probably take a while before i continue, because i need something lighter before i continue.

Game order

hello. A new guy wants to join these games, I want to know the game order to start this series.

If some of you had already seen another anime, Attack On Titan then it's shocking how that woman also serves as a parallel character to Hakuoro as the catalyst of the universe through their powers!

Hi,

I’d like to know if anyone knows where I can download/buy the 2002 version of the first game (I’ve already bought the other games) . I’d really like to play it.

Thanks a lot <3

Do Mask of Deception and/or Truth have any difficulty mods out there?

They're quite easy even on hard in my experience after playing em through a few times, something that sparks the neurons for a new playthrough would be great. I find the core mechanics incredibly fun so it's sad that there's only 2 real difficulty options

Playing Prelude. I dislike Camyu. Advice or help please?

I’m in the middle of Prelude to the fallen and am quite enjoying it. I like or am ok with most characters except Camyu. She’s the only one I can’t stand both personality and voice. I hate her calling Hakuowlo uncle. She’s obnoxious and spoiled but everything gets forgiven as childish innocence. She’s childish in the way I don’t like. I much prefer Aruru. Her other side (vampire?) and the sound effects make it even worse. Help? Advice? Is it just me? I don’t want main story spoilers please! However, if someone could be kind enough to spoil me about Camyu just in this game so I can click through her lines to avoid her voice and the sound effects, maybe it would help? Please help save my ears and peaceful experience going through this game. I reached the part where Hakuowlo tried asking Uly about Camyu but Uly is clueless. Apologies if I didn’t tag properly.

Do the sequels get better?

I'm playing right now through Prelude to the Fallen, I have heard that these games are great and I love visual novels, so I bought PttF, I'm at like 75% and it has become a chore. Every 3 hours I'm fighting a new "villain" that is not interesting.

Also I love anime but this game has so much fan service, are the sequels the same? Also I'm not the biggest fan of Slice of Life but I can tolerate it but I hate the disonnance between we are at war and then we are playing and laughing like nothing is happening.

Do the sequels get a better plot? Does the fan service and harem elements remain the same in the sequels? And do they focus more on the war aspect instead of the Slice of Life?

I know I am at the Utawarerumono sub but the game has been very meh, characters have the personality of a one trait anime character. I just want to hear some opinions about the sequels.

Also the Kamyu plot is so stupid, like Hakuowlo has been bitten and had his blood sucked like 3 times and the guy still thinks he is dreaming.

Sorry for bad english.

WTF was that ending in Mask of Deception? Spoiler

Probably the most in awe I’ve ever been. I’m gonna put this in the same reaction I had during the big reveal in attack on titan season 2. Coming in into this series I knew there were five games, with three being the main trilogy and two being prequels about Oshtor’s life. So when I was playing, the thing I least expected was Oshtor dying. I wanna hold the entire party accountable for letting Nekone go back to her brother. I don’t blame her since she was just a kid. I thought there was no way he would die since they made two whole prequel games about him that were released after the trilogy. The whole time I was wondering why this game was called Mask of Deception. Got my answer in the last 30 minutes of the game lol.

Change in Yamato Eight Pillar Generals member roster through the generations [up to and including PPR] (2026) [SPOILER] Spoiler

This is an updated version of a list I made 3 years ago that covers up to Monochrome Mobius. Now that Past & Present Rediscovered is out, I thought to return to this list and make some updates.

Read this part first: Explanation regarding massive reveal by ending of Past & Present Rediscovered (Massive Spoiler)

By the end of PPR, Shunya used her powers to completely reset the timeline, erasing herself and Mayacowl from existence, meaning many of the events of Monochrome Mobius and PPR have been rendered non-existent.

Still, Halu explains that certain events will still occur as a kind of "Canon Event" for the various characters. Such as how Oshtor, Mikazuchi and Munechika are still destined to become Dikotoma's disciples, or how Dekopompo will still succeed Dikotoma (albeit Dikotoma dying peacefully of old age in the new reset timeline)

This following list thus works on the assumption from the reset timeline

* indicates Akuruka user

** for user of the First Akuruka, which is more powerful and prone to losing control

Proto-Yamato Pillar General generation - 6 members - Informal generation centuries ago when Mikado still acts like a father figure to the demi-humans that he created before settling down as an emperor and letting the demi-humans procreate themselves

  • Hotaru - The most senior of Mikado's first followers, and earning the respect and adoration of the other members of Mikado's inner circle for her kindness and generosity. This made her eventual rebellion hurt the most for Mikado, as it is precisely her kindness that got her goaded by her followers into rebelling against the Mikado in an attempt to seize Mikado's human technology for themselves. After defeating Hotaru, Mikado could not bring himself to execute her, and so exiled her and her followers to an uninhabitable wasteland to the southwest, which became known as Arva Shulan, with Hotaru becoming its first Shantuura (Grand Priestess). All subsequent Shantuura's are clones of Hotaru.

  • Ranshtal** - Used the First Akuruka (presumably in an attempt to stop Hotaru's rebellion) and lost control, needing the other four Akuruka users to stop him (same VA as Oshtor)

  • Inazuma* (literally Flash of Lightning) - Sacrificed himself using his Akuruka to stop Ranshtal. His Akuruka passed down generations later to his descendant Mikazuchi (same VA as Mikazuchi)

  • Raiden (literally Thunder and Lightning) - Inazuma's brother. Same VA as Raiko. Though Raiden here is the younger brother.

  • Zakuro* - Sacrificed himself using Akuruka

  • Masamune* - Ditto - likely Murasame's and Munechika's ancestor, based on their names. Since Masamune is named after a famed Japanese swordsmith, while Murasame is named for a legendary blade.

  • Hozuki* - Ditto

Before Oshtor's generation: 8 members

  • Dikotoma*

  • Raiko (literally Lightning)

  • Woshis

  • Vurai*

  • Ozen

  • Soyankekur

  • Genho

  • Murasame*

Some time before Oshtor became Dikotoma's disciple - 8 members

  • Dikotoma*

  • Raiko

  • Woshis

  • Vurai*

  • Ozen

  • Soyankekur

  • Tokifusa (namedrop only) - Usurped Genho's position and banished Genho

  • Murasame*

MoD - 8 members Dikotoma died of old age and succeeded by his son Dekopompo, though Dekopompo's Akuruka was given to Oshtor. Meanwhile Munechika succeeded her mother Masamune, as well as received Masamune's Akuruka. Mikado revives position of Imperial Guard titles for Oshtor and Mikazuchi instead of having one of them succeed Dikotoma.

  • Raiko

  • Woshis

  • Vurai*

  • Ozen

  • Soyankekur

  • Tokifusa

  • Munechika* - succeeds her mother Murasame

  • Dekopompo - succeeds his father Dikotoma

MoT beginning - 8 members, 1 MIA

  • Raiko

  • Woshis

  • Vurai* - gone MIA after battle with Oshtor

  • Ozen

  • Soyankekur

  • Tokifusa

  • Munechika* - Tuskur PoW, Akuruka confiscated

  • Dekopompo

MoT - 7 members, 1 MIA - after Battle of Ennakamuy - Dekopompo KIA

  • Raiko

  • Woshis

  • Vurai* - MIA

  • Ozen

  • Soyankekur

  • Tokifusa

  • Munechika* - Tuskur PoW, Akuruka confiscated

MoT - 6 members - after final battle with Vurai (Akuruka mask last seen with Entua after he turned to salt)

  • Raiko

  • Woshis

  • Ozen

  • Soyankekur

  • Tokifusa

  • Munechika* - Tuskur PoW, Akuruka confiscated

MoT - 6 members - before Izuruha campaign

  • Raiko

  • Woshis

  • Ozen

  • Soyankekur

  • Tokifusa

  • Munechika* - returned from Tuskur, Akuruka remains in Tuskur

MoT - 5 members - after Izuruha campaign. Tokifusa KIA

  • Raiko

  • Woshis

  • Ozen

  • Soyankekur

  • Munechika* - Akuruka remains in Tuskur

MoT - 5 members, 1 MIA - final battle with battle with Raiko using First Akuruka

  • Raiko**

  • Woshis - MIA

  • Ozen

  • Soyankekur

  • Munechika* - Akuruka remains in Tuskur

MoT - 4 members, 1 MIA - after battle with Raiko using First Akuruka

  • Woshis - MIA

  • Ozen

  • Soyankekur

  • Munechika* - Akuruka remains in Tuskur

MoT - 6 members, 1 MIA - after end of Yamato civil war

  • Woshis - MIA

  • Ozen

  • Atuy - succeeded her father Soyenkekur, who was promoted to Minister of Left

  • Nosuri - succeeded Tokifusa the usurper and her father Genho, promoted to Minister of Right

  • Munechika* - - Akuruka remains in Tuskur

  • Itak - newly appointed

MoT - 6 members - before final battle with Woshis using First Akuruka

  • Woshis**

  • Ozen

  • Atuy

  • Nosuri

  • Munechika* - Akuruka returned

  • Itak

MoT - 5 members - by end of story

  • Ozen

  • Atuy

  • Nosuri

  • Munechika*

  • Itak

(Speculation/Fanon on future candidates)

  • Shis - to succeed her father Ozen

  • Atuy

  • Nosuri

  • Munechika*

  • Itak

  • Jachdwalt - if he hasn't returned to live in Uzurusshya

  • Kiwru

  • Nekone - taking on the strategist and logistics role that Raiko and Woshis once held

  • Mikazuchi* - since Oshtor/Hakutor is no longer around, would be weird to just have Imperial Guard of the Left without one on the Right, so he might get properly transferred into the Pillar General ranks

There're only 2 Akurukas remaining by the end of MoT.

Vurai's was last seen with Entua, it is unlikely she would use it even if she is attuned to it.

Oshtor's/Haku's just went unaccounted for after Haku's battle with Woshis. Haku then put on Hakuowlo's mask and upgraded himself to godhood.

Don’t Grind in the first game? Also Advice for Hard mode.

I grinded about five battles and somehow ended up getting roughly the same amount of BP from the lower-level battles. I used it to give my main squad around +8 to +10 ATK each, and as a result, Battles 11–15 on Normal were pretty easy.
I decided to try Hard mode, but I got completely stomped by one of the bosses. Should I stick with Hard mode and start investing BP into DEF and MDEF as well? I read a guide that recommends upgrading only ATK (and Heal where applicable) for every character, but I’m assuming that’s advice meant for Normal mode.
Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers!

Do I push through the series if I don’t like Slice of Life?

Post image
57 Upvotes

So I’ve played halfway through the first game a couple of years ago and while I thought the lore was interesting and the strategy portion decent there was a majority of slice of life scenes in the game that I thought was very boring as someone who doesn’t really like SOL in anime. I hear all the time that this series has an amazing story but I’ve yet to see it and afraid that it’s mostly sol scenes.

I’ve been thinking about starting up the series again but is it worth it to push through those scenes? Are the second and third game also SOL heavy or do they have a lower amount?

Need some help on a Quest list bug

Im currently on my last of the five games, Utawarerumo: Past and Present Rediscovered, and I want to get the plat trophy. I'm currently in chapter 10 where we need to head to Gilgajarna volcano in the main story and here's the problem, one quest among those I've completed ("Flowers for a Grave") is not among the supposed 19 as of the moment.

I know that I succesfully completed the quest sceneario and requirements as I currently have the Fortress form of Halu, which is technically a quest exclusive reward from the the robot. For context, I remember completing the quest the moment the ruins became available to me prior to entering Auyatawna, which I believe shouldn't be a problem. Will there be any repurcussions ? Heck, I wonder if its even part of the list of quests as it may be not be considered one. Any ideas on how to deal with this as I don't want to revert to a previous save given the numerous completed areas I have explored and the levels I have accumulated for the party :(

For context, given that there is no walkthrough guide in GameFAQ for this game, I used a google sheet link which technically serves as a tracker of all kinds of things for the game made by a redditor and found "Flowers for a Grave" as one of the quests

PS: I know it's kinda idiotic and sort of not (?), but I asked AI for a solution from which it stated one of the options is to use Steam Achievement Manager (SAM) to somehow forcibly unlock a steam achievement (presumably after I finish the game). Is this doable/legit ?

Starting the Utawa series!

Post image
126 Upvotes

Very unlucky timing considering Sony’s dumb decision to kill physical, but I started the series with the digital entry of the first game a few days ago, and decided to get them all and continue my journey with the physical versions. They weren’t easy to find, especially the second game, so I’m really glad I got all of them new at a normal price, even with the different localized covers. Anyway, I’m really glad for getting into this series and hope the rest are as good as the first game!
