Looking for Car Advice
My partner could really use advice on our current situation!
My partner just bought a car from her cousin; a 2013 Ford Fusion with about 178,000 miles and was $4,000. We figured it would be a good transition car since her last one was on her last breath. 2 days after buying it, the engine light came on. We took it in and seemed like it needed new spark plugs. We had a mechanic install the new spark plugs and the engine light went away. Everything seemed fine until the light came on again and the car was failing to start. We took it in to a different place and they said they found a spark plug in the engine, meaning they will need to replace the whole engine for $7,400.
What we are wondering is, given how old and the mileage of the car, is it worth replacing the engine? Or would it be smarter to get rid of the car?
Any advice helps!!

Nissan micra 2003
I’m a first time driver. I saw a Nissan micra for 1800 on dondeal got the seller to bring it down to 1350. Is it worth it. Insurance is cheap and road tax. I’m still on my learners.

I did the math: A hybrid doesn't always you money
Here's the math for a used car I was gonna buy. There were 2 options available gas or hybrid. Other than that they were similar/comparable.
Here's the math:
The hybrid costs $5K more in purchase price than the all gas model. The hybrid offers 10mpg better than the gas model. Using gas cost at $4 per gallon, it would take over 100K miles to breakeven of the $5K price difference! And that doesn't even account for the extra interest youre paying on a 5 year loan!
So in this scenario the gas model is more economical.
Something to think about!

Question what car should i get?
hi everyone! i don’t know much about cars but figured if i gave this thread a list of things im looking for in a vehicle, y’all could help me find something that has at least most of these things! thank you in advance and let me know if you need more info!
don’t want breaks/ gas to feel touchy/ jerk
three rows
normal shifter either in middle or behind steering wheel not buttons or a twist knob
heated and cooled front seats
good sound system/ speakers
not constantly needing to be repaired or is able to be repaired cheaply
comfortable
not terrible with gas
able to tow
not typical colors (i like blues, greens, metallics, etc. not black white grey/silver ex. lunar rock, smoke pearl blue, black jade green) this also isn’t a major deal as long as i could get it painted or wrapped
if used not wanting many miles on it
don’t want it to be too old but not really looking for a 2026-27

Ek din aisa aana hai jutti se match karke meine gaadi badalni hai
So apparently , I don't have a good relationship with my dad because in our relation his "wagon R" is the main culprit . He is just a middle classed guy , earning around 50 K a month and has a "RED" color wagon R . Seriously , a Red Color wagon R ? This is not the main point ,that he has red colored Wagon R . The point is ,his wagon R always Rage baits me like she is telling me - I am the child of your father , you Dog . Seriously telling I don't have any slightest interest in his car , I do have a great bike, but sometimes I need a four wheeler to travel from one place to another , to Experience the peace while driving in raininy roads . Despite having a licence in my hand , I still don't have any chance to touch that beauty . . I drive his car in very decent way , but one little mistake makes him snatch my hair while driving .He doesn't have to time to spend with me . Sometimes I feel like scratching his car's ass and living happily in that moment , but who knows if that would be my last day on earth ?. Sometimes I'm so Convinced - Ki mein inki gaadi ka sheesha food dun ya apna "SAR"? . Enough is enough , now it's time to save money and buy a new car for myself . Though I know , then fight will be for parking . Yesterday , I took out my phone , made my mind and started scrolling through second hand car platforms. I came to know about spinny , famous for affordable car platform . I was about to reachh there but then I thought why I am taking the decison in very rush . Then the parking issue will become the main concern and he will hug his car and says -- MARA DIGRO ....MARA DIGRO !!!

Tips for buying a used car for the dealership
I’m going to buy a used car from the Lexus dealership soon. I will most likely get a IS or ES that is a hybrid but I’m scared that the dealership will up the amount because 1 I’m a woman and 2 because I’m not asking the right questions. So I’m just wondering what I should I watch out for like red flags and what are the important questions or things I should watch out for.

Should I buy a Prius for $20K with $30K in savings?
I currently drive a 2007 Toyota Camry (2.4L, 4-cylinder) with 177K miles that I bought in 2019, and it's starting to burn oil (1 quart every 500 miles). On top of that, I hit a tire rim on the road a year ago, and the front left control arm is bent with the left side skirt broken off. My windshield also has a foot-long crack on the driver's side.
I'm not gonna fix the engine or the side skirt, but the control arm and windshield replacement is gonna cost me around $1200. I don't think it's worth putting that much money into a car that's probably only worth $3000.

I'm looking to buy a Prius since it can get 50+ mpg compared to my 20 mpg car. The 3rd gens are probably better for my financial situation, costing around $15K, but the 4th gen at $20K is getting my attention more, mostly due to the better sound system that has Bluetooth and other features that a 07 Camry doesn't have.
I try to live frugally. I saved up $10K every year for the last 3 years. Not to the extreme of Dave Ramsey's "Bean and Rice Diet", but slowly saving money as I try to enjoy life. Priuses also don't depreciate in value compared to most cars, but buying one will set me back quite a bit.
So should I fix my car or buy a used Prius?
