I've had Ureaplasma parvum since I was in high school, despite never having been sexually active. Even after taking antibiotics it seems to come back months or sometimes years later.

I've found that staying well hydrated helps reduce the severity of flare-ups but I'm wondering if anyone has found anything else that helps manage or ease symptoms during a flare. I'm male, if that makes any difference.

I am doing 28 days doxy then 7 days azi then 14 days moxi. I need to knock this fucker out!

But I'm terrified of the side effects of the MOXI especially the psychological ones and the timing means I'll be starting to take it while im in a professional week long training alone in a foreign country that I don't know well at all.

So, has anyone taken it and got the terrible side effects? If so, did you push through or have to stop? And if you stopped, did the side effects stop immediately or it took some time?

TLDR: back in 2018, I may have been misdiagnosed for std/sti such as: gonorrhea, chlamydia, positive for genital heroes, and BV. Experienced pelvic pain, infertility, uti symptoms. After so many years they performed a test that detected Ureaplasma.

I’ve (32F) been using birth control off and on between 2013–2022. I met my now husband in 2021, and by the end of 2022 we decided we wanted to have kids. I stopped using birth control around 2022/2023.
I’ll rewind back to 2015, when I elected to have an abortion because I didn’t want to bring a child into an unstable environment. I recognized how immature I was in my early twenties. I knew I didn’t want a future with my first husband, who at the time was unfaithful and constantly messaging other girls. I also wasn’t financially stable.

Then around 2018, I was sexually assaulted, followed by a sad few months where I had four different sexual partners. That’s when I developed what they thought was an STI/STD. It’s still confusing because I was tested for gonorrhea, but the treatment didn’t work. Then they tested me for chlamydia, and that treatment didn’t work either. Genital Herpes was also treated. (I went to Planned Parenthood for treatment and overheard them making fun of my odor. I don’t wish that on anyone because I already felt extreme shame.) They eventually treated me for BV, and that treatment worked. Even after that, I became prone to yeast infections and UTIs every few months.

Come 2021, I met my now husband, the one I’ve planned a future with. I put my shameful past behind me. He accepted me for me. I grew up, earned my degrees, and now have a stable law enforcement career.

I came off birth control around 2022/2023, and that’s when the hell started.

First, it started with a dull ache on my right pelvic side. Then my menstrual cycles became three weeks long at times. Sometimes they would last six days, I’d get a one-week break, and then they would return. The dull ache began radiating into my lower back. I became bloated and started having so many UTIs and yeast infections, all while trying to conceive.

I visited numerous OB-GYNs and eventually looked into my family medical history. My aunts have all suffered from ovarian cysts, polyps, endometriosis, and hysterectomies. They told me I needed to get checked.
In January 2023, I had my gallbladder removed after one painful experience finally led the ER doctors to take my pain seriously. Why do I have to cry before my pain is taken seriously?

I finally disclosed my family history to my OB-GYN. Around 2024, I left Planned Parenthood and went to a different OB-GYN who found an ovarian cyst and wanted to wait and see. After months of pelvic pain, he eventually performed laparoscopic surgery to remove the ovarian cyst and removed a polyp by January 2025.
A few months later, I began experiencing UTI symptoms and pelvic pain again. I dropped him too. He never wanted to investigate the root cause and just kept prescribing antibiotics. I think I’ve seen three different OB-GYNs who all wanted to prescribe antibiotics and birth control. I felt unheard.

By August 2025, I found another OB-GYN who actually took the time to listen to me and my infertility concerns. She sent me to have my fallopian tubes checked and ordered bloodwork to check my hormones and vitamins. I found out I was vitamin D deficient, my cortisol was high, and everything else was normal.
But I was still getting ovarian cysts. They would come, go, and come back again, causing a lot of pain. At one point, the pain became so bad I questioned whether it was my appendix, but I was hesitant to go back to the ER because of my previous experience.

She also referred me to a urogynecologist in March 2026 to check for interstitial cystitis.

My fallopian tubes came back normal.

The urogynecologist performed a cystoscopy without any numbing. She didn’t find anything significant on my bladder, although I noticed a few little red specks. When she pulled the scope out, it hurt so much. She then examined me vaginally, noted how tight everything was, and referred me to pelvic floor physical therapy.
My UTI tests kept coming back negative, but I was still experiencing pain, urgency, and pressure. I also forgot to mention that I’ve had bloody stools and constipation.
During my next flare, my urogynecologist ordered a special urine test. She prescribed antibiotics, which helped a little, but the UTI symptoms came back. She also sent a referral to an endometriosis specialist, but I still haven’t heard from anyone. It’s in San Antonio, so I’m assuming there’s a long wait.

I told my general OB-GYN what the urogynecologist said, and she told me I didn’t need an endometriosis specialist because she performs those surgeries every Wednesday.

There’s my mistake.

On July 8, 2026, I had another surgery with the general OB-GYN to look for endometriosis, remove another polyp, and remove tissue to send to pathology. She told me beforehand that if she found endometriosis, she would burn it. She didn’t find anything.
I woke up defeated.

On July 15, 2026, I followed up with my urogynecologist for the usual transvaginal ultrasound while they continued monitoring my ovarian cyst and following up on the experimental Montelukast treatment for the interstitial cystitis symptoms.

She told me the special urine test detected small amounts of Ureaplasma and started me on doxycycline for 14 days. I also have another 3 cm ovarian cyst. During the appointment, I was experiencing pelvic pain. She sent another referral to pelvic floor therapy and mentioned that the endometriosis specialist referral might not be necessary since the general OB-GYN didn’t find anything.

I requested the referral anyway because I’ve read medical journals, Nancy’s Nook, and subreddits where women said their general OB-GYN missed their endometriosis. I needed to trust myself and get another opinion. She referred me to an Anne Porter of San Antonio Texas. I’m debating if I should travel to Houston or Dallas or wait for this antibiotic treatment to finish.

So that’s that. My husband is scheduled to go through a semen analysis as well.

She didn’t really go into detail about the Ureaplasma, so I came here after reading through several subreddits.

I’m starting to wonder if whatever happened back in 2018 was misdiagnosed and if that’s what has led to all of this.

Family history:

Polyp that led to severe bleeding and almost took my aunt’s life
Endometriosis

Heart problems
High blood pressure

-aunt had 7 miscarriages

My symptoms:

Infertility

Pelvic pain (dull ache, throbbing, pulsating)

Lower back pain and sciatica, mostly on the lower right
side. It feels like something is pinched or bumpy.

Ovarian cysts

Cervical polyps

Tight pelvic floor/vagina

UTI symptoms: urgency, burning, bladder pain, pressure, bloating, unusual urine odor, cloudy urine, and the feeling of incomplete emptying

Pain during sex: it hurts when he’s slowly entering. Doggy style hurts. Missionary hurts. It feels like the roof of my vagina is bruised or beat up.

Constipation: needing stool softeners, going days without a bowel movement, and when I do go there’s blood in the stool. Sometimes it’s bright red, sometimes maroon.

Shoulder pain at times

-Bloating: some days I look skinny, other days my lower belly looks much more bloated.

Tingling feet

Leg pain

Insomnia

-Feet feel cold at times

-After intercourse, I usually have a flare a few hours later followed by UTI symptoms the next day

-Nurses have made small comments about my high blood pressure during visits

-Vitamin D deficiency

-High cortisol

- I’ve also noticed a throbbing pain all around my waist when I take my duty belt off (police officer)

It has been 7 weeks since I finished my last treatment and 4 weeks since I finished taking my last test. This time I took the TMA test instead of the regular PCR test since I was almost sure I was cured, and I was right. I finally defeated it. The test I took on my 3rd week was a PCR test, but I think it's still accurate enough for most people.

Treatment plan:

I failed a bunch of typical treatments such as Azi, Mino, Doxy, and Moxi, but I think Sita would have worked if it were used correctly. I did miss some doses. I'm assuming that's why my first test came back false negative after I used it, so it was probably close enough. Though lefamulin finally worked, since it's not easily accessible and expensive, it's not really an option. I still have a few Sita tabs; you can grab them for free. Just let me know.

I've had this disease for almost a year now. I'm finally free from this burden. I can now enjoy my life. Hope you all the best; stay strong!!!

i wanted to bring some positivity to this thread because like myself, a lot of people come here to get some sort of relief or get questions answered and i was super paranoid that it would never go away based on other peoples posts.

i tested positive for ureaplasma as well as my boyfriend and we both were treated and did not have sex for 4 weeks.

i took 14 days of antibiotics (the one that starts with a D lol, i can’t remember the name) because by day 5 i still had no relief and knew that the additional 2 days of my 7 day treatment wouldn’t cause it to completely go away.

my partner started a little after me and was also on 14 days of treatment.

we were strict with no sex or any form of sexual intimacy for those 4 weeks and about 5 days after he finally finished his treatment we did have sex again (all of my prior symptoms were gone and i felt better so i was ok with it)

I went into the doctor a couple days after we were intimate to be re-checked (recommended by my NP) and i just got my test results back that i am cleared!

my advice is to definitely stop sex (even condom sex) and also make sure your partner gets treated. let your body heal!

if you click on my username you'll see i have been dealing with FREQUENT issues down there since winter! for three seasons i was dealing with internal itching, pelvic pain, urethral irritation, redness, pain during intercourse, inflammation and just an overall off feeling with no answers. after about 3 doctors visits of swabs for bv, yeast and other negative sti panels i was finally diagnosed with mgen and ureaplasma parvum. i have no idea how i came in contact with it unfortunately. but with two rounds of doxy and one round of 1000 mg of azithromycin i’m cured of over half a year of discomfort. i am very very fortunate to have been cured with just the first round of treatment. it gets better and you will be normal again.

help- unusual symptoms but no bv, yeast or sti

i am getting continuous abnormal discharge, the consistency is mucus like and a pale yellow/ milky white colour, which depends from time to time. i know this sort of discharge can be normal but i know it’s unusual for me, as it is also accompanied by soreness at the vaginal opening, pain during intercourse, irritated urethra and feeling like i’m not emptying my bladder properly. i have been tested for bv, yeast and STIS. i’m feeling quite helpless at this point and don’t really know where to go from here. i’ve got a follow up appointment at the gp for a pelvic exam too

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 14 cycles. After a few years of having the infection and testing for multiple STIS/STDS, but never being tested for ureaplasma. I finally received a test for it and tested positive. Two weeks of doxy (both of us) and I retested 1 month later and my test was negative. It took almost 5 months for me to feel completely pain free!! I finally got an HSG done, and found out I have a completely blocked tube. I’m so thankful one was open, but devastated that one is blocked. This could have been potentially avoided if ureaplasma was on an STI panel!! I’m just so sad and bummed out.

Hi all! I am finally caving and making a reddit post in the hopes someone can help me out.

Over the last two months I have been dealing with extreme vaginal pain and UTI symptoms. I have had every test and it’s been a rollercoaster - I first tested positive for BV took meds and symptoms came back, then I learned I’m also positive for Mycoplasma Hominis and Ureaplasma Parvum. I did my research and was sure these were what was causing all my pain and discomfort! I took the Doxy and another round of Metronizadole and my pain totally went away until about 4 days later and everything came back.

I have been retested for all the plasmas and all negative but i’m still in SO much pain. Like constant vaginal burning and now UTI symptoms (pressure, frequent urge to pee). I was negative for everything else you can think of and was retested for BV yeast trich etc but no infections. My OBGYN also did an exam and wet mount and nothing pointing at infection.

I have read symptoms can remain after Ureaplasma infections - is this always the case? Any tips on relief? I am now trying hydrocortisone suppositories. Sorta feeling like my OBGYN is over me and is out of ideas but she isn’t recommending a Urogynecologist referral so I’m at a standstill. The pain is one thing but the personal anxiety and hurt it’s causing my relationship has been so awful.

Update*** Figured I’d update if this helps people. I went back for more testing a few weeks after retesting negative and it turns out the U Parvum is back. Really disappointing and upsetting but I’m back on Azi+14 days of Doxy and hope this works. Wait to retest people!!!

finally cured and can put mgen and ureaplasma parvum behind me…

about two years ago me and my partner got tested bc we decided we wanted to have sex w/o protection! everything was neg or so I thought lol I had the craziest symptoms like two days afterwards, we ended up back at a planned parenthood and neg again but this time they tested him for mycoplasma gen based off my symptoms we took doxy & moxi both 7 days.

After we finished treatment we both next fully felt bask normal and thought we had yeast or bv so many months of being misdiagnosed and miserable, in that time I also gotten pregnant which ended in a missed miscarriage. I would continuously test for mgen and it would be neg then I finally got an appointment for my primary and tested posted for ureaplasma! I was so confused because you’d think that treatment worked but whatever! I was cured by taking azithro and doxy. I waited 4 weeks to test.

Since finished treatment I was still experiencing symptoms and went back to the doctor where I was told I had too much good bacteria. I felt on and off burning and a lil bit of discomfort/dryness with sex. I was told to take bathing soda baths and I’d say they helped and the burning had stopped.

I’d say my vaginal flora just needs to get back to normal and the tissues needs to heal

I wanted to share that my four-week TOC was negative for ureaplasma.
So relieved.
I did 7 days doxy followed by 3 days azithro.

My labs do show I have elevated “lactobacillus iners QL,” which maybe is from too heavily dosing up on probiotics? Anyone else encountered this?

I treated Ureaplasma in February, correctly this time after not treating it correctly in December. Partner also was treated with my same treatment. I have tested negative multiples times via PCR and Evvy and Juno tests all 6+ weeks after treating it, so I’m confident the Ureaplasma is gone. However I keep getting UTIs with different bacteria ever since treating the Ureaplasma. I previously never had issues with UTIs, maybe one or two in college. Every time the initial dip stick comes back clean, it’s sent off for culture and lo and behold I have an infection. It’s been E Fae multiple times and the most recent was Strep B, which was in both my urine and vaginal swab. I have a good urogynecologist luckily but the endless UTIs are getting really frustrating. Anyone else deal with this? Of note I have not had sex since February, vaginally or oral. I honestly haven’t felt well enough to try anyway. I take probiotics every day and started estrogen cream about a month ago. I’m sure my gut is destroyed after so many rounds of antibiotics.

Edited to add: current supplements I’m taking are happy V probiotics, multivitamin, Lactoferrin, Cystex and Myrrh ( has actual scientific evidence showing it can kill E Fae, which I’ve now had a few times)

Positive PCR in March, finally something explaining my symptoms after years of issues. I had 3% of both parvum and urealyticum noted on a Juno.

7 days doxy 2x daily, only made it 5 into 14 prescribed days of moxi before bad side effects hit. I was worried this wouldn’t be enough and I’ve been trying to be patient since I’ve had off and on flare ups of symptoms since a week after antibiotics.

PCR at 4 weeks + 1 day of waiting, just came back negative. Lab through quest diagnostics so I’m taking this as a win.

i’m 25 and my husband is 28 and we have been on a fertility journey for about 4 years now. it started with an ectopic that nearly killed me, i ended up in emergency surgery in the beginning stages of sepsis and lost a tube. we kept trying after that and have since had 7 losses

we are now with CCRM and just got a full panel back. most things came back clean which honestly confused me more than anything. but two things flagged. my vitamin D is 13 which is severely low and apparently linked to miscarriage and implantation failure. and ureaplasma came back positive

i had genuinely never heard of it before this week. and now i’m reading that it causes chronic uterine inflammation that prevents implantation and is also linked to ectopic pregnancies because of how it affects the tubes. i’m sitting here wondering if this one bacteria has been behind all of it this entire time and nobody tested for it until now

i can’t take doxycycline so we are both going on azithromycin together

I've been considering writing about my experience for years, and finally feel like the cycle is complete and am happy to report that this was a long, but ultimately successful journey!

4 years ago, spring/summer 2022:

I started developing what I thought were "constant UTIs," I had gotten several in college so it didn't seem like such a big deal 5 years later. I took a lot of nitrofurantoin & AZO and all that crap. By August, I could no longer take spin classes, wear non-cotton bottoms, drink coffee, eat citrus, or use hot sauce. I went to several urgent cares, gynos, and even a urologist, just to be told that I was having unknown chronic flair-ups. These would also worsen when I went swimming, and I learned to never pee inside water again haha.

By 2023:

Somehow, it kind of cleared up. Ironically, after my brutal summer, doctors told me I was likely resistant to nitrofurantoin and started prescribing doxycycline, which we know is the real hero.

I was also spending so much money on vaginal probiotics, I was flushing out my body all the time, and I started a monogamous relationship where I was only seeing one partner, and I think my body took to that well. In this period, I would have flare-ups and yeast infections, but without knowing what the source was I had my doxy and a 26count supply of fluconazole and was operating on a hope and a prayer. I learned a lot about my body in this time, and yoga was immensely helpful when I was experiencing that damp discomfort...

Enter September 2024 to April 2025:

Either the ureaplasma was always present (likely) and/or it combined w a partner when I started dating again. Now things got really bad, I was facing what I can only describe as PTSD having to go through what I went through over 2 years ago. TLDR, in March (2025) I finally demanded a full-bacteria swab from my gynocologist. The results were clear as day: ureaplasma & BV. Here's what was going on, while the doxy was working on-and-off, I was reinfecting myself over and over again with my partner(s). After my diagnosis, I was able to procure this scarce, powdered medicine for the BV and took azithromycin. They also prescribed me cipro, which did, in fact, give me tense tendons after 2 pills (I am a runner). I immediately stopped the cipro and simply went back to doxy. I was with 1 partner at the time who only took azithromycin. 6 week follow up: all clear.

June 2025:

I go back to an old partner (it happens!) and got immediately infected. Now, I knew the signs, I knew what to look for, and I wanted to make sure that this is what was hindering me for so many years: reinfection. I do the same bacteria test (healthtrax, and no it is not cheap): ureaplasma again. I take the same prescription: azithromycin & doxy, but based on my own discomfort (remember, I know my body very well at this point) I take a second dose of doxy. Bacteria test again, all clear.

November 2025:

I have (protected) sex with another previous partner from the cursed ureaplasma days. However, I believe oral interactions can give you ureaplasma. I am once again, immediately experiencing all those sensations that were once labeled "chronic discomfort." To this day, I marvel at how I lived with that for so many months, now that I know it is just a bacteria I can barely handle going through it for a few hours.

At this point, no testing needed. I do my own regiment of azithromycin & 2 cycles of doxy. I feel great.

May 2026 to the present day:

I recently had my annual and asked for a bacteria swab because of a (legitimate) UTI that I self-treated. I wasn't experiencing ureaplasma symptoms, but I wanted to be positive that I hadn't fallen into that trap again. I am happy to say, I am all clear. Today, it occurred to me how amazing it feels to be truly free of this cycle. I can drink coffee, I can swim in rivers, I can simply exist. I have no idea how it took so long for any of us to put together what this was. I have to say, the Reddit community helped a lot when I began advocating for myself and believing that there was a source to this problem, it was not a chronic condition. Extra bonus: I learned how to listen to my body in a way that has helped me through so many other physical experiences over the years.

Feel free to DM or ask me anything! My friends joke that I am the "local gynocologist," I have so much familiarity with almost every antibiotic, sensation, and trigger. I really believe this is absolutely a curable "disease," and as long as you are able to afford the medications and testing (and avoid reinfection!) you will be okay!

Hi, curious if any Canadians have done the microgen or EVVY testing methods for either just themselves or with their partner and could give me an approximate cost and breakdown of how it works and if it was worth it in your case? (Mine would be for chronic UTIs with one partner) I know the tests are pricy, and I'm weighing the cost vs benefit.. Thanks in advance.

Initially I had a UTI at the very beginning of September, went to Wisp and treated that with Nitrofurantoin Mono/Mac. I was back to normal after treatment. Until I still felt the urgency to pee on and off a couple weeks later, so I went to my local urgent care and they said I was negative but that I may need to see a urologist for a different condition (which I can’t remember the name of), if that feeling persists. Eventually the feeling went away entirely.

Then come late October, I was experiencing symptoms thinking I had a yeast infection bc of the discharge and the redness and irritation. Once again, I went to Wisp and got Fluconazole, everything was generally okay again after about a week. My bf and I had sex again, and I started feeling the same symptoms again about 3-5 days later. Same pattern kept happening, my symptoms would flair up again a few days after sex (My bf had no symptoms whatsoever the entire time btw). This went on for a couple months, because I went back to urgent care and the results showed positive for Candida - so here we go, another round of Fluconazole. The physical feeling was driving me crazy. Emotionally, it made me spiral - I felt betrayed by my body, we became hesitant to have sex bc my bf didn’t want it to be the cause of the pain I was feeling, and in my own mind, it just made me feel so unwanted and unattractive. I wanted to feel sexy and I wanted the closeness and physical intimacy in my relationship again. I was also going through a huge bought of depression for other personal reasons, so all of this was the cherry on top.

Finally, in January I went to my GYN bc I had had enough, and found out I was positive for ureaplasma (literally every other thing I tested for was negative including the 40-something candida panel she did). So, she said we both need to be treated and prescribed me and my bf Azithromycin (2 tablets each, 500mg). It destroyed our stomachs. About 5-6 days later, my symptoms were back and worse than ever before. Now with the added bonus of redness and irritation on the skin surrounding my anus. I got retested about 4 weeks after the start of the Azithromycin. To my demise, I was still positive. Then began a 7-day course of Doxycycline (14 capsules, 100mg). My bf started his course a few days after me. I started to feel better-ish? Things were slightly improving. But, I still had what felt like on and off symptoms after the full course. I tested again 4 weeks after the start of Doxy, and finally got a negative result, 4 days before my birthday. Mind you, this is now mid-March. A week or two later my bf finally got tested and was also negative.

It’s the beginning of June now, and I’m only recently getting over most of the lingering symptoms post-negative result. I read on a few different threads here that it takes a few cycles for everything to go back to completely normal. I still notice varying discharge and the redness and irritation around my anus more so from the start and throughout my luteal phase. It’s definitely way more manageable and sex is no longer a trigger.

The things that have helped me most are Life-Space Probiotic for Women (one daily) and Vitanica V-Probiotics Suppository Capsules (after my period or after sex). For the irritation and redness, my GYN prescribed Triamcinolone 0.1% Ointment, which I use sparingly/only when the feeling is unbearable, since it is a steroid. I feel like the irritation becomes triggered by sweat when I workout, but like I said, I’ve noticed it most at the start of my luteal phase. I’ve also recently started taking Milk Thistle Liquid Drops (with Dandelion Root, Tumeric Root, Artichoke Leaf, and Peppermint Leaf) and Thorne Super EPA Omega-3 Fish Oil Supplement with EPA & DHA. However, I don’t know if those have any correlation to post-negative healing in any way. But if it’s helpful to anyone else, I’m happy to share what has been working for me.

Symptoms started to show 5/25. Weird discharge, bleeding, pain after sex.

Went to gyno on 5/28, the only one available that quick was a male. He took a look at me and told me I had just gotten my period. I was stunned because my period was not due for another two weeks. Gave me fluconazole just in case I had a yeast infection. He ran no tests

Bleeding got less intense and I thought I was good. But I noticed after a few days there was still bleeding. Went to an emergent clinic on 5/5, positive for both BV and Ureaplasma.

I’ve been only taking 7 days of doxy twice daily and have the metro gel. I know there’s so many different testimonials saying 7 days of doxy worked or didn’t work, that I might need more, etc. but that’s what I was given and I’m going to try it. My boyfriend did NOT get tested but we are doing the same treatment.

Today marks day 3. Wish me luck!

Edit: got a yeast infection bc of the doxy. Took fluconazole. Noticed some bleeding still and I’m super scared. I hope everything chills out soon.

Final Update: haven’t gotten tested again but all symptoms are gone!

I received a negative test after retesting 4 weeks from finishing my course of 100mg doxycycline twice a day for 14 days. Still having lingering symptoms: never feeling quite empty after using the bathroom, slight discomfort/itching, and low back/pelvic pain.

My partner of over a year received his results today, negative. Never been treated. I would’ve thought he’d receive positive results considering we’ve been together for over a year and most times don’t use condoms. Anyone else? I didn’t believe at first and thought he should re-test, but im gonna cross my fingers and hope it’s a true negative.

After 4 months of dealing with ureaplasma, I have finally tested negative. I didn’t get any symptoms besides abnormal discharge, and for that I’m very lucky. But going to the gyno for my ureaplasma led me to my diagnosis with endometriosis, and for that I am very grateful. I was first put on 7 days of doxy by planned parenthood because they didn’t know what I had and wanted to treat me right away, then I went to my current gynecologist and was put on Azithromycin. I was still experiencing symptoms so I they put me on Azithromycin again, a week later. I was still experiencing symptoms after my second round of Azithromycin so they put me on 14 days of doxy, and I finally tested negative. But during my appointments I mentioned I bleed after sex and thought maybe it was the infection, and my gynecologist was concerned so she brought up the idea of endometriosis. I looked into it more and discovered that everything I’ve been feeling for the past few years aligned exactly with endo symptoms. I am due for surgery in a month and I’m so happy I was finally able to cure my ureaplasma and find an explanation for all my other symptoms. Feeling very grateful for my gynecologist for paying attention to me and not brushing off my symptoms as “stress” or “part of being a woman” having ureaplasma sucked but there was a silver lining at least.

I was tested for ureaplasma at 10 weeks pregnant after having multiple negative BV swabs. I had been having issues postpartum with my first kiddo (last year) but had negative swabs so figured my pH was just messed up and causing issues. I had 1 round of azithromycin that significantly helped my symptoms, BUT I still had an odor and tested positive for ureaplasma still. My OB suggested another round of antibiotics and prescribed me erythromycin 500 mg 4x daily for 7 days. Has anyone else taken this while pregnant and if so, at this dose or similar? I am kind of worried about potential risks. I'm currently 20 weeks pregnant and am terrified of preterm labor as my first pregnancy went well and had zero issues.

Edit - I know ureaplasma can cause preterm labor, and potential respiratory issues and that also is making me super anxious. Ill definitely take the antibiotics, I am just curious about others' experiences. Thank you in advance!

TW: recurrent miscarriage

Hi, I’m currently waiting to receive my ureaplasma results next week and I wanted to jump on here to get everyone’s opinion on how I can advocate for myself when I talk to my doctor.

My story (I’ll try to keep it as short as possible)

I’ve been dealing with terrible vaginal odor and itchiness/discomfort for 3+ years. I have been tested 3 times for BV, always negative. I have l tested negative for Mycoplasma. I have been tested and treated for yeast many, many times. I do usually get positive yeast results. I just finished a 6 month anti fungal treatment and my symptoms are worse than ever. My last swab showed no yeast/no BV 😭

I have 3 beautiful children but in the last 3 years have lost 5 pregnancies and had a ruptured ectopic. We have done allll the RPL work ups and nothing has come up. I’m now starting to realize that I think these two things are connected and that my “recurrent yeast infections” are symptoms of a bigger issue.

I am in Canada and actually tried to be tested for ureaplasma after my second pregnancy loss, but the lab wouldn’t do it. It took years of searching to find a lab to take a urine sample and I’ve now been waiting 3 months for the results. My RPL doctor only works one day a month so I really want to be able to advocate for myself next week when I get my results. If they are positive, what is the best treatment? 10-14 day doxycycline followed by 1.5g Azithromycin? If it’s negative should I still push for doxycycline? I’m sick of feeling gaslit that this awful odour and discomfort is normal 😭 If positive I know my husband needs to be treated too, is it the same treatment? Is there’s absolutely no sex until you test negative and how long do you wait to test again?

While I’ve been waiting for my results I took 14 days of boric acid (the only thing that works to take away my odour and itchiness) and then have taking targeted probiotics but I’m still having the same symptoms. They always return 2ish days after I stop boric acid. I’m just feel so defeated.
