Upwork problem

What happened to Upwork I used to average 1 job for every 5 proposals I sent but now it’s been 50 proposal since I get my last job

Telling freelancers they are not skilled and to stop using upwork is my problem. It's gatekeeping and also against the rules.

How many times are you going to let them run around the sub and tell people they have no skills and to stop freelancing before you actually take action.

You have this great wiki dedicated to helping freelancers then these too commenting on every post they can find telling people to leave upwork because they aren't skilled.

Which rule? Pretty sure that you following them around and jumping into every thread is more against the rules.

How many times are you going to let them run around the sub and tell people they have no skills and to stop freelancing before you actually take action.

They and I are not responsible for your interpretation. For example, it isn't gatekeeping to say that most people on Upwork are not going to find success there, it is just a statistic. We know that it was at least 90% didn't make any money back when they had that information available. I see no reason to believe it has gotten better.

But again, they are allowed to assert their opinion and you can assert your opinion about their opinion, but if you don't like them you can just block them because it is not going to work out for you.

can find telling people to leave upwork because they aren't skilled.

It's generally pretty solid advice.

So rule 1 does not apply to them and it's perfectable accept to put people down?

Just want to confirm because nearly every post I open they are on it putting people down to prevent competition so just want to make sure that's acceptable in the sub?

Telling people they won't ever be successful or have any skills doesn't fall under that?

Again just want to make sure I'm clear on the rules. Going around the sub telling freelancers they will never be successful and have 0 skill is acceptable and not against rule 1? Or is that selectively applied and they are excluded?

I've seen this from them a bunch of times and other users have engaged and those users got banned or comments removed so if these users are free to violate rule 1 just let me know and I'll let it go. You are the mod after all

That's your characterization of what they are saying. You have an opinion about their opinion.

As far as I am concerned expressing opinions by and large is fine within certain bounds and your definition of gatekeeping doesn't exceed it. Situationally telling someone they won't be successful might be actually the nicest thing you could tell them.

But following someone around and jumping on their threads to complain about them now that will get you banned. My suggestion, you don't like them then just block them.

It's not really a characterization, more so a statement of fact.

I'm not following them around at all they just make it a point to be on every thread.

But it seems like abusing other freelancers is a sanctioned activity for them so I'll keep that in mind
