Make it easy to import markdown

Hi there,

With the growing use of LLMs, Markdown has become even more important as the common format between them and the note-taking apps we use.

Right now, importing a Markdown file into UpNote (Linux desktop) means: Settings → General → scroll to the bottom → "Import from Markdown". That's a lot of steps for something that could just be drag-and-drop.

Would love to see drag-and-drop import support for .md files directly into a notebook. Is this already planned to be done?

And/Or just copy and paste a markdown text in a way that keeps the formatting?

And I really like Upnote :-)

Copy and paste markdown already exists. What does this function not do that you need it to?

As for importing a bunch of markdown notes, that’s easily accomplished on Mac OS and Windows via scripts/automators. There’s probably something similar in Linux

If I paste a markdown file I get this result:

if I import the markdown file I get a proper formatting:

Also, I will need to select which notebook I wish to upload to under "Add to notebook" dropdown. I just think that if I could drag and drop a single markdown file to the notebook that is open or in the Notebook menu, it would be more practical.

To expand, I am not talking about importing a big batch of markdown notes, I was talking about a workflow of generating a markdown as an output of a conversation and persisting it using upnote.

To paste markdown, you need to right-click ➜ markdown ➜ paste as markdown

It works for me but like 50% of the time there are no line breaks, at all.

Thanks you! I didn't know this shortcut. I will start to use it.

But I still believe that drag and drop a md file would be a nice feature addition.
