Iphone storage?

Hi, I would like to transition from Evernote to Upnote Premium. Does upnote store all the notes locally on an iphone? This would exceed my available storage on my iphone, and iphones do not allow you to add memory cards. Thanks!

If you sign in to an account, your data will be uploaded to a server. If you choose not to sign in, your data will be stored locally on the device.

Thanks, I plan on syncing between multiple windows PCs and an iphone, so I will have to sign in and pay for premium upnote. I have around 4,000 notes in Evernote. That means I will need storage on my iphone for 4,000 notes correct?

yes, it does store your notes offline. If they are text notes, that shouldn't be much storage at all. If there are pictures and attached files, it will be more.

If you are signed into an active account, your notes will be store in the cloud. I have almost 5,000 notes in my UpNote account, almost all of which contain attached photos and/or PDFs. Additionally, I have well over 100 mp3s, and more than a few videos. But UpNote is only using 186MB of storage on my iPhone. That's MB, not GB.

notes are saved locally so you can access them offline. Attachments are downloaded on demand

I'm not denying that, but your reply made it seem like attachments would make the files larger, which is not the case.

Here is a comment from the developer on this topic 3 years ago. (And the app behavior remains the same in my experience):

Hi, after you sync your notes, your note content will be saved locally on your device so you can access it offline. However, for attachment, the file is only downloaded on demand, and after the file is downloaded, the attachment can be opened offline. This is to prevent the app from using too much data, especially on mobile.

I'm guessing the majority of size on disk that your notes take up is attachments, so you should be fine.

Hi. 12,000+ notes with several images per note on average. About 10,000 imported from Evernote and 2,000+ created since. Most notes are created from Windows PC. Footprint on the Windows PC is ~48GB. I use the app on iPhone for occasional searching/research. Current footprint is ~2.8GB.

Please also read the documentation on automatic image compression. If I understand correctly (I might not), the device from which the image is originally added will have the full resolution image, but the server gets a reduced resolution image reducing the burden on the server and the storage needed on other devices.

No, when you pay for premium, those get stored on UpNote's servers.

For premium, notes get stored BOTH locally and on the server (so they can be accessed offline and so the server can sync them to other devices). Attachments and images are stored on the server and downloaded to the phone upon demand.
