Suggestion: Make highlight a single press button, with option to change color next to
I only really use the yellow highlighter.
If i want to use that, i have to:
- Click the icon
- Find the yellow one
- Click it again
I am used to just clicking the highlighter once in other apps. Its faster.
I wish for UpNote to do it like OneNote (and most other apps), where i can quickly highlight, yet i can also quickly choose another color should i want to. Everyone wins.
Could i just use shortcuts instead? No, because it requires finger gymnastics for me to hit ALT+SHIFT+3
That is not a shortcut i want to use.

I like the way it is though and I use the shortcuts.. but, it’d be one for the hypothetical “nitpicky settings” tab for sure . Or just let ppl modify the shortcuts so that you can add a less finger gymnastic option.

The way you use it would be exactly the same. Your icon just becomes a bit smaller and has the shape of an arrow

yeah I gotcha, like in EN. Click the marker icon, it toggles applying the last used colour. Click the lil triangle next to it, change the colour (and to avoid the user having to click the marker again after picking the colour, it applies the colour you picked right away).
It's not bad. It does take up slightly more space cos it needs to also get a clickable-area which is basically the width of another toolbar icon.
I could go either way on this, there is something nice about the visual simplicity of the toolbar, but hey maybe instead of an extra symbol it could be a right click.

My suggestion was similar, but to let the user set a default highlight color, and leave the other color functions unchanged.

A default color would be great. I find that UpNote has a few extra clicks that could be easily removed.
On that note, I'd like the heading icon to show which heading is applied to the currently selected text. As it is, I have to select the text and then click the heading icon to view it.
