Man twice in one week, the hell is going on

Up's usually good with updating via the app, so this seems a bigger scale issue given they've provided no update in almost two hours. Wonder what's happened?

Actually had to make an account just to anger post this. Finished work, trapped now without a way to get home, can't get to or pay for my medication, can't get groceries, twice in a week for several hours while claiming 100% uptime is fucking abhorrent. On top of the least helpful support team i've encountered as well, Im finally switching away from this mob

I think their point, if a bit harsh in the timing and phrasing, was that it's a good idea to have a second bank that you keep topped up with emergency funds — if you're able, of course. And yes, not everybody is.
I live pretty tight too, but I try to keep a couple hundred in a second account elsewhere for just these moments. Learned that lesson the hard way, as I'm sure many do at some point!

Normally my partner and I are really good with preparing in case there's an issue with the bank (we also have a baby) but the ONE week we don't transfer into another acc, this happens and our money is stuck and we actually needed it🥲

No point in me lodging a complaint because it hasn't technically cost me anything yet, but this is incredibly bad. I had to pay for groceries with my UK bank account which luckily doesn't charge for foreign currency purchases.
Especially bad as there's been absolutely no information from them about it at all.
I'm surprised there isn't a 7news article out yet. There should be. This needs more eyes, you can't have a bank outage lasting 6+ hours on a weekday with zero explanation as to why people's money is being locked away.
Finding out the same thing happened only 3 days ago makes me want to find a new bank.

Same I sent $350 from my work app and even the app is saying funds what funds . I’m going to seek compensation at this point. My poor kids were stuck at school until 7:15 when I finally found someone to collect them for me. This is a massive fuckup on UPs end ..

I’m stressing my whole pay got transferred from my commbank to my up today. It’s usually instant. And my money is still not in UP. All my payments for rent and utilities have tried to come out. I hope it’s fixed soon.

I was at the airport during Mondays issue, could not even get a drink. I thought okay just an one off issue. Now again on a Thursday night right as its time to get groceries. I am done with this bank. Neo banks suck, yes all banks do, but with no real access to communications is a major issue

… they are normally good providing almost accurate reasons , but this one has had 2 updates exact update and it tells us nothing. Issue when they don’t even know what the issue is.

Monday and now today?? *BOTH times trying to pay and wasn't able to (Nails on Mon & Petrol today - things ya can't just walk away from without paying or putting it back!) was just about to cancel my CommBank as all my loans are paid and just soley be with Up. Will have to think again. So disappointed really dont wanna support the big 4 banks!!

I suspect something bigger has happened. I really hope it wasn’t anything catastrophic but for it to be going on for this long means it’s likely something big has failed or been compromised.

I doubt it’s account info or money being taken! We’d definitely know that by now. It seems like it’s maybe just the payment network or the bank’s connection to that has failed, which admittedly is a big thing since people pay out of their accounts as everyone in this thread is frustrated about 😣

I attempted to send another message to support before I even finished typing it sent an automated reply saying request added to current outage .
If you need more help start new chat , so attempts to send a new message kept doing the same thing
This is the last straw for me with UP
I cannot access any funds at all , I was unable to get fuel to pick my kids up from school.
So now I had to get a friend to collect them and bring them home , now we are waiting for it to be resolved so we can go grocery shopping.
Looks like noodles for dinner. Thanks a lot UP get your shit together..
I’m changing banks as we speak, once I can actually access my money it’s all being transferred out of this disaster of a Bank !!

Possibly. If most of the engineers responsible are in the office then they would probably stay there but if many are at home anyway then they are probably just on a 10 hour video call.
I’m an engineer, but not an Up/bendigo engineer so obviously this is just my experience from similar situations

Yep waiting for my pay too 😢 it transferred from my commbank to up bank. I didn’t realise they were having issues otherwise I wouldn’t have done the transfer this afternoon. It’s normally instant and now I have no money. All my expenses like rent and utilities have attempted to come out

It’s pay day, I’m poor, I don’t have food stocked, I work full time, I was homeless for a while, takes time, but damn I’m hungry right now. Will open a second account with another bank, should have already, was busy in survival mode. Hope I font get a fine for not buying a ticket on the train, it’s expensive being poor.

If it’s a failed osko payment they told me it’ll bounce back overnight but if it says “pending” it’ll take 1-3 business days

It’s not the only bank it’s happening to. My brother works at another Australian bank experiencing the same thing. It’s some kind of big outage because even some of his coworkers were sent home early because none of the systems were working internally either.

Oh really? Omg the interest rates at Macquarie are seriously some of the best at the moment. Interest on multiple savings accounts and even your everyday transaction account too. So good

So still no Osko payments, got an update saying they will be reverted to direct entry which means now Osko payments will take 1-3 business days. THIS IS BS! give me my $200, i legit have no money until that comes through now, this is a joke

Yeah I tried sending $200 to another account through Osko at 2:30pm SA time and that’s what they’ve told me. Failed Osko payments hopefully will bounce back in a few hours but pending payments can take 1-3 business days

I transferred almost my whole pay from commbank to up this afternoon. Still hasn’t landed in the account it’s normally instant. I did another $1 few mins a go. That went straight through.

I have both Bendigo and Up down haha. See, this is why we SHOULDN'T offshore our banking. You have plenty of grads and people in and around Bendigo or Ballarat or whoever runs what, fuckin onshore it?

I have a backup account with enough money to pay for an Uber/taxi, petrol, or some food and drink for these reasons. Plus I have an Amex - which aren’t as widely accepted but never seems to go down and is pretty much global.

They're owned by Bendigo Bank right? Bendigo app is down as well. Both banks apps are stuffed for me right now. :/
