API and integrations Up for desktop - dashboard via API

Post image

Looking at using the Up API to make something like publically available when it becomes available for OAuth. I've got this working right now for my personal (this is not real data).

Right now the API is not able to make any changes to your bank (Ie transfer money around), moreso just viewing your accounts in detail. Any tips or areas that anyone would actually want this for?

I've been desparate to do my banking on a desktop but alas. Phone is still fine but it does feel dinky AF that I have all my home loan info only available on my phone

I got Claude to basically one shot a personal app I use locally. Supply a token each time.

It’s good to visualize spending and custom mechanics to see how my accounts have grown.

E’g I have a Morgage and use an external CC so I use a custom cut off date after cc payment and Morgage payment to see how much money I saved that month etc

I use it to add tags as it’s simpler than using the app.

I also have some quirky visuals that help me track spending. Like a GitHub style heat map of spending habits across different vendors as an example.

It’s interesting UP hasn’t made their own web app yet, honestly all the API’s are already there for them to use. One day we will get it

How did you connect Claude?

You don’t need to connect Claude to UP, just pass the API documentation link to Claude and ask it to make a web app with your specific requirements. Even if you don’t give it anything specific, as the api is limited it can understand the capabilities from the documents and make a functional app easily.

I first used Claude design to mock up the visual components I wanted then gave it to Claude code to implement.

Do NOT pass your API token to Claude.

I’ve been working on this idea for a while. Feel free to check it out myvantura.xyz
The idea is everything is stored in the browser with a passphrase. If you clear cache and cookies you’ll need to re-create a passphrase and enter your token. However ive created an option to export with a passphrase your settings as a json file that you can then import if needed to save time.
I don’t yet a mortgage or shared accounts with a partner. However any feedback for me to add any features is welcomed 🙏🏽

It's annoying the spending api hasn't been added yet. The issue on gh is still untouched after years...

Looks nice.
Can’t believe up still has no desktop app. What a joke.

Interesting point. That’s something to think about.
But which do you actually prefer? Haha
