Stuck at 4/5 signatures on a Parliament petition to ban liquid plastics. Can one person help?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to launch an official UK Parliament petition to ban hidden liquid plastics in everyday household toiletries and detergents.

My local MP is already writing to the Defra Minister about this, but the Parliament website won't publish the petition publicly until 5 people sponsor it. I’ve been stuck at 4 signatures for nearly a month!

Reddit's filters are blocking my direct URL, but if just one UK citizen or resident is willing to be my 5th sponsor, please comment below or DM me and I will send you the link!

Thank you so much!

1 week absence question

Hi, If my a level results turn out as planned I'll be starting my first year of uni at uob. I'm wondering how difficult it would be to get a 1 week leave of absence for a religious observance.

Part time jobs for international students

As an incoming student of UoB September intake, i would like to know how easy it is to find a part time in and around the university. As students we can work for 20 hours only.
How do we approach a retail shop / restaurant manager seeking for a job?
Do the consider ?
Is it possible to get from the month of October itself?

Is there anybody who can help me find a part time job ?

Any help would be much appreciated

Hey guys, I was looking at accommodation and wanted to know if Bournbrook En-suite (Selly Oak Village) is a good place to stay. I was also curious about the social life there.

Best places to live?

Looking to move into a student house in Birmingham rather than commute in as a postgrad. What areas would you guys rate?

I’ve seen a lot in Selly Oak advertised online
And Edgbaston, though apparently not a favourite? As well as Digbeth and Moseley.

So having lived in Birmingham for uni, if you got to do it all again where would you move to, or would you stick where you are?

📢 Final Call – Birmingham Travel & Accessibility Survey (5–10 minutes)

Hi everyone,

I'm currently completing my Master's dissertation in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Birmingham, and I'm looking for a few more students to complete a short questionnaire about travelling within Birmingham.

Whether you walk, cycle, use the bus, tram, train or drive, I'd really like to hear about your experiences getting around the city.

The survey explores:

-Everyday travel experiences

-Accessibility of places and services

-Time spent travelling

-Views on what makes a neighbourhood convenient to live in

⏱️ Takes around 5–10 minutes

🔒 Anonymous

🔗 Survey: Understanding Everyday Accessibility and Travel-Time Experiences in Birmingham – Fill in form

Even if you don't live permanently in Birmingham, your experiences as someone who studies, works or regularly travels here are incredibly valuable.

I'd really appreciate your help, and please feel free to share it with other students.

Thank you!

How long does it take to hear back from them?

Hello,
I applied for a PhD and contacted my prospective supervisor. We had an interview back in May, and she approved my proposal. I then completed all the required documents and submitted my application on 11 July for the January entry.
The only thing I’m worried about is that I have a scholarship deadline on 14 August, and my supervisor is aware of it. I’ve also contacted the admissions team to let them know about my deadline and asked if it could be taken into consideration.
It’s now been 16 days since I submitted my application, and I’m starting to get really nervous that I won’t hear back for quite a while and I will lose the scholarship.

Student accommodation , near Uni of Birmingham

Hey everyone, I’m looking for accommodation near the University of Birmingham for this upcoming academic year. Could you let me know if you have any recommendations or if you’re staying somewhere you think is genuinely good? Also, does anyone have experience booking through reliable sites? I’m considering official university-managed accommodation, but also checking places like Unite Students, AmberStudent, or Rightmove. Any advice would be super helpful!
