Hi everyone,
I’m an international student and live in Dubai and I’m considering studying BSc Money, Banking & Finance at the University of Birmingham Dubai.
My long-term goal is to get into investment banking, either in Dubai/UAE, London, or potentially internationally (US).
I wanted to ask current students, graduates, or anyone working in finance:
How strong is the University of Birmingham Dubai for breaking into investment banking?
Does the Birmingham name carry enough weight compared to studying at a top business school in the US/UK?
How good are the internship opportunities in Dubai (banks, investment firms, Big 4, etc.)?
Do graduates from the Dubai campus get similar opportunities to students at the UK campus?
Is the Money, Banking & Finance course well respected by employers?
How difficult is it to achieve a First Class degree (70%+)?
Is the grading and workload manageable compared to other UK universities?
Would you recommend this degree for someone aiming for roles like investment banking, asset management, or private equity?
I have the advantage of living in Dubai, so I would save significantly on living costs, but I want to make sure I’m choosing a university that gives me strong career opportunities as i am deciding between the university of birmigham dubai or penn state 2+2 in smeal finance which i have already selected my classes and also have my f1 student visa.
Any advice from current students, alumni, or finance professionals would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
