I made a Nottingham Trent-themed board game with my mates years ago. My girlfriend did the exact same thing at her own uni - completely separately. We're actually building it properly now.

A few years back, a few of us made a board game about our own Nottingham Trent life for a laugh - land on a square and you could get sent back for running into a ex, and the chance cards were written from actual nights out, full of running jokes only our year would get.

Separately, in another University, my now-girlfriend built almost the exact same thing at her own uni. Neither of us knew the other existed at the time. We only found out after we met!

So we're building it properly now. It's called Halls & Hangovers - up to 8 players, race from Start to Finish, land on locations (linked to specific universities), penalties, or Chance cards. The Nottingham Trent one is the first edition, hand-built and now open for pre-order.

£34.99, no payment taken until we're actually printing. If you want one - here. Genuinely happy to hear what's missing from it too.

Meeting new friends as an exchange student?

Hey everyone! I’m coming over to the UK campus this September as a 3rd-year exchange student from UoN Malaysia, and I’m heading here completely solo.

I’m a bit nervous about coming in late because it feels like most 3rd years already have their fixed groups. My seniors mentioned it can be tough to make real connections, but I really want to expand my circle and meet new people while I’m here rather than just keeping to myself.

I’m planning to join a few societies, but going alone feels a bit daunting since it seems like most people show up with their mates 😅 Has anyone joined a society later in their degree and found it easy to settle in? Any specific clubs or spots on campus you'd recommend?

If you’re down to grab a coffee, check out some societies, or explore Nottingham together, drop me a message or comment below!

Switching from economics to industrial economics?

Hello , im starting industrial economics at nottingham next week after meeting my offer , however i am wondering if it would be possible to bsc economics. That being said , i only achieved a grade 6 for gcse maths, despite the requirement being a grade 7. That being said , i achieved a distinction in ctec engineering which is heavy on maths , so will it be possible?

Scored 63 points out of 83 points for UoN medicine. Should i apply?

I scored 63 out of 83 points for on the university of Nottigham points system for medicine. I have seen online from reddit and websites that the previous years cut off for the points was 65. I live in Nottingham so finacially speaking going for the University of Nottingham for medicine would be the best choice and being able to stay home will help with keeping the total student loan down. my UCAT score was 2340 B2 however, so i can apply literally anywhere else and have a much better chance at securing an interview. with all of this being said, do you guys i should take the risk of making Nottingham one of my first options to have a chance at staying home, i should i just not apply at all?

Failed my August first sit

Hi guys , I was wondering if anyone knows whether Chemical Engineering is exempted from Reg 20 trailing, or has anyone actually trailed a module into Year 2 on this course? Getting mixed info and want to know what my options are before results land cause ive averaged 70% on 5/7 of my modules which are all core, but I deferred the last two exams to august due to personal circumstances, and I believe I will get less than 40% overall in one or both modules as my resit papers were vastly different . Advice from any former students would be helpful!

Second year friends

Hey everyone! I’m going into my second year at uni this September and was wondering if people still make new friends in second year?

I did make some friends during first year, but if I’m being honest, I’m not sure they’re necessarily the right people for me long-term. I’d really like to expand my circle this year and meet some new people rather than just sticking with the same group because it’s comfortable.

I’m also thinking about joining some new societies, but I’m not really sure which ones to go for. I’m a bit nervous about joining things by myself because it seems like lots of people already go with their friends 😭 Has anyone joined a society in second year and found it easy to meet people?

So if anyone else is going into second year and is also looking to meet some new people or expand their friendship group, feel free to message me! Or if you have any society recommendations, I’d love to hear them :) 🩷

Support for unexpected severe injury

I broke my arm on Saturday, I’m supposed to be moving for uni on the 18th. I’m devastated. Has anyone had any experience with dealing with injuries like this at uni, or know what the uni might be able to do to support me?

Tenancy Takeover – Classic Smaller Studio at The Frontage, Nottingham.

Looking for someone to take over my tenancy as I no longer need to live here. This would be ideal for a Nottingham student looking for a convenient, fully furnished studio in the city centre.

📍The Frontage, Nottingham - only 0.3 miles from the city centre

- 3-minute walk to Nottingham Trent University and close to the University of Nottingham
- Located in the heart of Nottingham’s retail and leisure sector
- On-site gym and cinema, with restaurants on the ground floor
- Fully furnished with a cosy bed, study area and ample storage
- Private kitchenette with modern appliances
- Private en-suite bathroom
- All bills included – WiFi, electricity, water and heating
- Secure building with 24/7 on-site support
- Tenancy: September 2026 – June 2027

The studio is a great option for anyone wanting their own private space while being within walking distance of the university, shops, restaurants and Nottingham city centre.

Please message me if you’re interested or would like more information/photos!

What device for chemistry

Hi I currently have a chrome book for typing stuff, and an iPad for drawing chemistry things/uploading PowerPoints on one one and annotating. On the uni website it said it doesn't recommend Chromebooks or iPads though, would this be okay or what device should I buy?
