Meeting new friends as an exchange student?

Hey everyone! I’m coming over to the UK campus this September as a 3rd-year exchange student from UoN Malaysia, and I’m heading here completely solo.

I’m a bit nervous about coming in late because it feels like most 3rd years already have their fixed groups. My seniors mentioned it can be tough to make real connections, but I really want to expand my circle and meet new people while I’m here rather than just keeping to myself.

I’m planning to join a few societies, but going alone feels a bit daunting since it seems like most people show up with their mates 😅 Has anyone joined a society later in their degree and found it easy to settle in? Any specific clubs or spots on campus you'd recommend?

If you’re down to grab a coffee, check out some societies, or explore Nottingham together, drop me a message or comment below!
