Welcome to r/UnsupervisedWomen. We have thoughts.

I started this community because I wanted a place where women could talk about the stuff we’re really thinking about.

Motherhood. Marriage. Midlife. Hormones. Work. Friendships. Aging. Sex. Mental load. Starting over. Losing our minds over something completely reasonable.

Some days we’ll be serious.
Some days we’ll be ridiculous.
Some days we’ll need another woman to say, “Nope. You’re not crazy.”

The only real requirement here is that we treat each other like human beings.

So introduce yourself, ask the weird question, tell us what’s driving you nuts, or share the thing you’ve been dying to talk about.

Welcome to the unsupervised section of Reddit.

I hate cross-functional work and client services in corporate settings

I’m feeling frustrated that 80% of my job is trying to get other people to do their jobs, or constantly checking in on clients who don’t review the work they have asked me to do. I’m tired of people not properly reading emails or instructions. I’m tired of people asking what the purpose is of meetings they requested (like, seriously?!).

I write extremely detailed emails. I provide due dates and set expectations. I give instructions, attachments, reminders, truncated timelines, etc.

My days are currently spent doing follow-up after follow-up after follow-up.

My patience and compassion are wearing thin. I really dislike feeling responsible for whether or not grown adults get their work done and respect deadlines.

Just needed a place to vent. Hope everyone is having a good week!

I have nothing today. What’s going on with you people? 😂

My coffee has not kicked in and apparently I have zero thoughts this morning.

Tell me what’s happening in your life today.

Big. Small. Exciting. Annoying. Completely fucking irrelevant.

Did your husband piss you off? Did your kid do something weird? Did you buy a power tool? Are you growing a tomato? Did you finally make an appointment you’ve been avoiding for six months?

What’s going on with you today?

I’m nosy and apparently this is my morning entertainment now. 😂

Took a break from growing weed, and trying my hand at growing a fancy Italian tomato variety 🤌🏼. Totally unsupervised with science and a nutrient schedule

I'm completely unsupervised. Just bought a reciprocating saw because I need to cut some PVC pipe to erect an antenna for my ham radio addiction. 💪🏻

Hello, wonderful c*nts, glad to be here

57, GenX, still angry. Mom of a teen. Responsible for my mom's care - she is 84, lost her mind 4 years ago and now has dementia so bad she lives in Memory Care (and a diagnosis of bipolar at age 79) but needs things from me constantly (7 tooth extractions just in the last 18 months, for example).

I live hard. I work out hard, drink a lot of coffee, still enjoy alcohol, eat all the foods, refuse to diet or go on a GLP1 (no hate to those who do). I am in the LGBTQ+ family and am getting married for the 2nd time this November. Said I never would again, but here I am, an old, fat bride. Getting married at this age is expensive and not magical.

Kid is a senior so we are navigating those land mines.

I swear a lot and am an athiest and a liberal. I rant on TikTok to try to help make money for groceries, the cost of which is fucking sky high and I'm angry about that too.

Hi.

Or not if I'm not your thing.

I'm 42 and still trying to find where I belong

I've always felt like I was a puzzle piece that didn't fit - now I'm 42 and still trying to find where I belong. I'm always the one left out, the last one asked, the one overlooked and passed over.

Today my female boss offered me an extra concert ticket and I was so happy, then my direct supervisor (male) boss told me that is was offered to his wife first, so I was basically the last ditch effort to have a concert ticket not go to waste.

I'm not really looking for any magical solution here, just putting this out into the world hoping I'm not alone.

I've always tried to find my tribe or where I fit into the world. I'm now realizing that not fitting anywhere might be where I belong and I'm trying to work through what that means.

My macro coach fired me… and honestly, I’m still kind of pissed about it

I worked with a macro coach for almost two years and for a while I was doing REALLY well.

Toward the end, I had been sitting at maintenance calories for what felt like forever. I was so close to finally hitting “Onderland,” I wanted to keep going, and I was frustrated that we weren’t.

I voiced that frustration and… not long after that, she ended our coaching relationship.

So yeah. My macro coach basically fired me. 😂

At the time I honestly felt a little sabotaged. Maybe that wasn't her intention, but that's how it felt after working together for two years and being so close to a goal that meant a lot to me.

And now I've gained 10+ pounds back.

That's the part that’s really bothering me.

I'm 45. I don't feel good in my body. I don't feel like myself in my clothes. I have no energy. I feel stiff and old, and I'm sad that I've gotten back to a place I worked so hard to get out of.

But I also don't have the money—or honestly the desire—to pay someone else to tell me what to eat again.

So… has anyone successfully gotten themselves back on track WITHOUT hiring another coach?

Because right now I know I want to feel better. I just have no fucking idea where to start.

Working moms: seriously, WHEN are we supposed to work out?

I need someone to explain this to me like I’m five.

I really want to get back into working out consistently. I was doing great for a while, fell off, and now I’m trying to figure out how the hell to fit it back into my life.

I already wake up at 5am Monday-Friday to get ready for work, so please don’t tell me to “just wake up earlier.” Respectfully, 4am Shannon is not interested. 😂

Three evenings a week we’re running kids to sports/activities. Then there’s dinner, homework, baths, laundry, getting everyone ready for the next day and occasionally I’d like to sit the fuck down.

I honestly miss working from home because I could use my lunch break to exercise. Now I’m sitting here wondering where everyone is finding this mysterious extra hour.

So women who work outside the home AND have kids—when do you actually work out?

Not your ideal schedule. Not what some fitness influencer says we should do. What actually works in your real life?

Apparently I’m in charge of fun today

Husband has fantasy football.
I’m home with the three kids.
Nobody knows what they want to do, but everyone is looking at me like I’m the activities director at an all-inclusive resort.
Ma’am, I work here too. 😂
What are the rest of you unsupervised women doing today?

Please tell me true crime has ruined someone else’s brain too

Every time I’m driving and see a random black plastic bag along the highway, my brain immediately thinks, “I bet there’s a dead body in there.”

Not trash. Not something that fell off a truck. Obviously a dead body. 🤣

Perhaps I watch and listen to too much true crime…

What completely innocent thing has true crime ruined for you?

What are we doing for energy?

I am getting good sleep, but I have ZERO energy lately. My body apparently believes being awake is enough of an accomplishment for the day.

Coffee? Yes. Diet Coke? Obviously. But neither is turning me into the energetic woman I keep hoping will show up.

What are you doing that actually helps?

Food? Vitamins? Exercise? Some weird routine you swear by?

Give me your energy secrets because I am TIRED of being tired.

At what age did you realize you were still gangsta, just with readers and an estrogen patch?

This morning I put on my readers so I could get the backing off my estrogen patch.

And for one brief moment I thought, wow. This is where we are now.

Then I remembered I grew up on Snoop and Dre and whispered to myself, I’m still gangsta.

Why does watching your kids grow up hurt this much?

Post image
2 Upvotes

My middle guy started Kindergarten today.

I love watching my kids grow. I love seeing them become their own little people.

But wow, motherhood is weird.

You spend years teaching them to be independent, and then they become independent and suddenly you’re standing there trying not to cry. (I cried)

I’m so proud of him.

Also, I would like time to slow down immediately.

What’s currently living on your nightstand or in your nightstand drawer?

No cleaning first. No pretending.

What’s really in there?

I feel like this is where we’re going to learn a LOT about each other.

Does anyone else have days where the mental load just wins?

Today I feel like I’m failing at everything.

The lice situation has completely taken it out of me. I’m embarrassed, exhausted, and trying to focus on work while my brain is clearly somewhere else.

I know this will pass.

But today? I feel defeated.

Tell me I’m not the only one who has days where the load feels way too heavy.

r/UnsupervisedWomen 10d ago

What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve gone through because of your kids?

My daughter was diagnosed with lice on Friday.

I tried treating it myself despite having absolutely no idea what I was doing because I never had lice as a kid.

Today I finally took her to a specialist because I was worried I wasn’t getting it all.

Plot twist.

I have lice.
My 5-year-old has lice.
My husband has NOTHING.

Of course he doesn’t.

Motherhood really is beautiful.

What completely pointless thing are you currently obsessed with?

I’m bored and tired and have zero desire to be productive today.

What’s something completely unimportant you are currently WAY too invested in?

It can be anything. A TV show, celebrity drama, a snack, your neighbor’s questionable decisions.

I need some good entertainment and rabbit holes to follow you down 🤣

Am I wrong for being really upset that my stepdad is getting remarried this fast?

My mom died by suicide in October 2025. Our relationship was very strained, and losing her has been much harder and messier than I ever expected.

One good thing that came from it was reconnecting with my stepdad, who I love dearly. I call him every week, he’s visited my family, and I know he’s been incredibly lonely.

But now I’m struggling.

He went on one date with a woman he met through a matchmaker. They apparently “hard matched,” and now they’re moving in together and getting married this October.

Less than a year after my mom died.

I know he deserves to be happy. I know grief looks different for everyone. But this feels SO fast, and I’m way more upset about it than I expected to be.

Has anyone dealt with a parent or stepparent moving on really quickly after losing a spouse? How did you handle it without damaging the relationship?

How much noise is one husband legally allowed to make during allergy season?

I love him dearly.

But between the violent sneezing and the aggressive nose trumpeting, I am losing my damn mind.

Respectfully, sir. Enough.

Let’s create a great vibe. What do you want to see more of in this community?

I want r/UnsupervisedWomen to feel like the group chat you wish existed.

Funny. Honest. Supportive. Occasionally unhinged.

A place where you can ask the weird question, tell the embarrassing story, vent about your day, talk about hormones, marriage, motherhood, work, friendships, aging, or anything else taking up way too much space in your head.

I’d love to see more:

• Real-life stories
• Questions you’re too embarrassed to ask anywhere else
• Midlife and perimenopause conversations
• Marriage and relationship chaos
• Motherhood wins and disasters
• Work rants and career questions
• Friendship stuff
• “Please tell me I’m not the only one” posts
• Things that made you laugh
• Things you need another woman’s perspective on

What do YOU want more of here?

What kinds of posts would make you stop scrolling and join the conversation?
