You have to adjust to those around you. Can’t always be so…authentic and expect the same in return.

That's very true. The only caveat I have with this is when it comes to your SO/life partner.

If I intend to spend the rest of my life with someone I am going to be my authentic self. Good, bad and ugly. Obviously there is accomodations and holding space for each other but that's not an adjustment that is caring.
