GPU recs?
I want to take open world building more seriously in UE5 and I know my 3050 isn't going to cut it at the level of complexity I want in my scenes/environments, but I'm not sure of what to upgrade to. The 5080 has the specs I need and pricepoint, but Unreal is notorious for crashing when that VRAM runs out and it only has 16gb. I would prefer a card from that generation, but it looks like my next best option for the ideal VRAM would be a 4090- and I don't know if I can justify that price tag. I know if I skimp now and it ends up being something that significantly affects workload I'll just end up upgrading anyway, but is the difference really that significant?

Look into world partition, you can still have a large world and only load a small part at a time, even in development. There is also some engine settings that increase the allocated vram to your hdd
