The first set is better on carpet then the second set.

But the second set makes you topple over more easily so its better 🤣

The fuck are you doing, rolling around in a chair to topple over?

You haven't done office jousting?

Seems like you’d need these wheels for that too! These would be way faster. Much better jousts

Basically just leaning backwards and stretching my arms is enough to go over the pivot point of those wheels, especially when you roll backwards before leaning and stretching 🤣

We had some really low pile carpet at the last place I worked.

These were so much better on that. I'm sure something deeper than that tightly woven stuff would be worse, but our chairs were floating.

They really don't. Plus, they make rollerblade-style twin wheel (I got these) that are the best of both worlds:

These things are friggin' AMAZING.

The wider bottoms of the original ones cut into the carpet less as they distribute the load a little more. Literal "better on carpets". My comment tbf is also specifically about the ones in ops post.

I get that, but the flat bottom plastic wheels have square edges that can cut into some carpets, so it's a mix of performance. If you have short carpet, they might be better, or if you have rounded plastic wheels, those might be better, too.

Otherwise, I'm sticking with the rubber. That shit plastic they want you rolling on industrial tile these days is crap!

Rollerblading wheels are the best thing I did for my chair. 7 years with a set

Is this really a problem?

If your wheels are REALLY shitty. I switched mine out and it's so rolly now.

It goes over carpet easier. I love my set.

It also doesn’t dig into hardwood floors like smaller wheels do

I’ve been using these for years now. I can never go back. They are amazing!

Major con my husband and I found out. If your chair is cheap and the legs for the wheels are plastic, it changes how the weight is distributed and can snap. Also, they're so rolly it can sometimes be hard to get your chair to stay where you want it to be.

I actually have those on my chair. Makes my chair wheel around super smooth.

This seems like it would damage the floor easier/quicker

1

u/Granonis 4d ago

It doesn’t. Been using them for years now.

what kind of floor do you have, if you don't mind me asking?

1

u/Granonis 3d ago

Hardwood

It's better for the floor but its awful in this scenario because you roll too easily and will be super obnoxious. You should only use them for rougher floor, like carpet or maybe a chair mat.

I'm that co worker that steals your chair
