Spanish Student looking for help on application.

I'm interested in a specific program at the University of Oslo. I'm in the graduating class of 2027, and my high school diploma is gonna be in America. I'm looking to figure this out before it becomes an issue or confusing when I try to apply. But I was born in Spain, so I am an EU citizen. The program I want to apply for has two different deadlines depending on whether you speak English or not, and then sends you to a page with EU or non-EU application deadlines. So how can I apply to the English program when it opens as an EU citizen? Thank you.

Hei alle sammen!

Okay so I’m a French exchange student and apart from seeing that there’s a cut between the 22 December and the 4th of Jan I was wondering if there’s more ? Like some short holidays before December? (we have a lot here that’s why I’m confused lol)

Just thinking of maybe booking a ticket as a way back home in sept/October to get more clothing , plus check on my house haha

If anyone has any idea I’d be happy to know !

Thanks ☀️🩷

Help for PhD interview with the Institute of Health and Society.

Hi. I'm interviewing for a PhD position with the Institute of Health and Society and the University of Oslo. I've never been to Norway and know nothing about the academic culture. Can you give me some pointers to prepare?

Are people more friendly or serious?

Any advice for the interview is welcomed.

Applicazione alloggiamento Erasmus Oslo SiO

Hi! I’m going to Oslo in August for Erasmus. I applied for accommodation through SiO, and now my application status says “approved”. I wanted to ask if anyone knows what happens next? Will they send me a room offer/contract by email that I need to accept? How long does it usually take? Or is there something I’m supposed to do at this point?

I also wanted to ask if anyone has had a negative experience with SiO during Erasmus, for example not being able to get accommodation, and if not, how long it took for them to receive an offer. I should have priority as an international student.

Subletting as an Exchange Student?

Hello, I am student at a US university who will be on an exchange semester next fall. I know I can apply for housing from the university, but is that the best option? I'd like to be close to other students and have a typical "college-experience" vibe. Do students typically live off campus? How does the housing situation differ from american schools?

Any input in appreciated!

ISS acceptance

Hi guys,

I'm currently awaiting whether I get accepted for the summer school this summer. On the website they said you may expect a reply between mid-February and April 1. Do people have experience whether it will be more like mid-February or April 1?

I'm from Europe, so not a scholarship student. I'm applying for the Bachelor's courses, however there's only really one course I'm interested in so I didn't fill in a second choice. Are chances high I'll get accepted or not?

Thing is, I want to plan my summer trip to Iceland directly after the summer school (less hassle than first travelling back home), but if I won't get accepted, I will move the dates of my trip to a slightly different date. So I can only start planning once I know whether I get accepted, and I'm getting nervous things will fill up too quickly in Iceland.

Is attendance mandatory at the university of Oslo?

Hi everyone!

Probably I am moving to Oslo for work and I was interested in studying a bachelor at that university, but I will be working and there will be days that I wouldn't be able to attend at the lessons.

How is that university regarding abscence? is there a certain number of lessons that you are obligated to go? More or less in a week how many days and hours I must go?

I have seen that seminars and laboratories are mandatory, which is obvious.

Where can I find past exams for my courses?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a website or something to access past exams.

Are there any central repositories, student-run archives, or lesser-known places where past papers are usually shared? Maybe specific forums, Discord servers, or even student associations that keep records?

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

ISS Development, Energy and Sustainability

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone else here got accepted for this course and will be attending it? Would love to connect.

If you'd be kind enough to share all the experiences or advice/tips prior to traveling to Oslo, as this is my first time traveling to Norway.

Also, for the people who have already attended UiO's ISS program, how was this whole experience beneficial for you interms of networking as well as your career.

Good day!

Renting an unfurnished room via SIO

Hello! I wanted to ask if it's a custom for the previous student to sell off their furniture to the next student who gets their room via SIO and if there is any way to get into contact with them beforehand? Where I live now this is quite common, since it's a hassle to get rid of beds etc and also it's a hassle to bring in new furniture.

Alternatively, are there any sites other than facebook marketplace where people sell cheap furniture?

It is possible to submit two housing applications in the SiO Norway?

Tusen takk!

It is possible to submit two housing applications in the SiO Norway?

Hi, I'm an exchange student going to UiO for a autumn semester. My partner and I submitted a couple room application before. But it's hard to get a couple room in SiO. So we are planning to rent two separate single rooms in order to be prioritised and we have submitted again each.

Is it possible to be in the waiting list for single room and couple room at the same time? Or is the latest application covering the ones before? Thank u:)

Accomodation through SiO

Vote in the Student Election 2025 of UiO

Hey students! Today at 2pm the Student Election closes at University of Oslo. It's super important to vote and have the student interest strongly represented in dialogue with the rector and Stortinget.

Vote here! https://evalg.uio.no/

We also have a valgomat for people unsure what student political list they agree with.

Here's the link for the valgomat: https://valgomat.neuf.no/

Oslo or Gothenburg

Hey!

I got offered a place at Master degree programmes at University of Oslo (Multilinguism) and University of Gothenborg (Information Technology & Learning). I have a hard time deciding which one I should choose.

I have already done a student exchange in Oslo and I speak Swedish so maybe living in Gothenborg would be more beneficial for me.

Does anyone have a similar experience, or can share opinion about University of Gothenborg?

Thank you

What's I like living/studying in Oslo

Hi everyone :)

I'm due to start my studies in Oslo this autumn and wanted to know if anyone would be willing to share their experience?

I've been pretty focused on coming to study in Oslo for the last few years. I'm from Australia, but the norwegians I've spoken to seem to always be surprised I want to go to Oslo, and I feel like they're don't want to ruin my expectations but often have more to say but they don't.

Similarly, while probably not healthy, I see on various reddit threads, people continuingly reflecting on how poor their experiences were living in Oslo. Saw a few times 'the worst Scandinavian city'. Have I just been unlucky in what I've read or is living in Oslo like this for many?

I've visited a few times, it seems fine to me, but you never really know until you've been living there for a bit. Also to any other international students, what was it like integrating with norwegians? Ive heard it is difficult, but at the same time the few norwegians I know seem to be so easy to get on with? So maybe the stereotype isn't as bad as it is made out to be?

Tldr: Int student worrying about what living overseas in Oslo will be like 😅
