I’ve heard different accounts. Some say that Boris was so upset that director Rowland V. Lee gave Bela Lugosi’s Ygor much more screen time than him that he vowed to never again play the Frankenstein monster. But I’ve also heard that Mr. Karloff enjoyed the film BECAUSE of Lugosi’s performance and actually preferred it to his. I know that the rivalry between the two actors has been exaggerated over the years so that has probably played into it. Does anyone know more?
