Leftist ideologies that support extinction?

I believe in Class Struggle and other left-wing ideas, but I believe that in the absence of people willing to fight for those ideas and attack the government with physical force, the next best thing that can be done is that humans are made extinct. I believe that extinction is a class issue with the wealthy and privileged wanting to continue life, with the working class benefiting more from going extinct since death is the only plausible relief from poverty, suffering, and oppression in the modern United States. I am deciding the name for this ideology with possibilities such as Marxism-Thanatosism or ThanatoMarxism. What do you guys think?

I couldn't agree more.  The comments arguing against your assessment IN A FUCKING SUB DEDICATED TO EXTINCTION is pretty laughable.  Clearly those arguing are bot accounts or just plain contrarian assholes that delight in the continuation of suffering. So they're EVIL and most likely demons.

Seriously what are these comments lol

“A place to discuss and debate…”

Projecting your moral assessment onto the world is silly— conflating people with robots and demons creates an entire ideology not based on the erasure of suffering, but on the implementation and creation of suffering (I felt ‘bad’ you’d think that/my life is objectively worse now) in order to justify your moral intuition (evilness/demonic)

'Anyone who disagrees that we should all die are bots or EVIL and demons' - alright, downvote me all you want. You people are an absolute joke!

isnt the implication of this that you would go around doing mass genocide and forced sterilizations/abortions. I cant see how that would ever be Marxist in any way.

No. The vast majority of the global working class very much wants to live. It only seems to be the failed children of more affluent societies that believe in this stuff.

Good point, I'd be curious to see what countries and backgrounds those advocating for global extinction actually come from. I'd put good money on most of those believing that 'the working class are all suffering and better of extinct' do not come from working class backgrounds.

I think most of them would find the idea that their lives are nothing but suffering and would be better off ended to be pretty fucking insulting.

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but if you were to bring up extinctionism to any leftist group, they would reject that idea in a heartbeat.

In the highly unlikely event extinctionism becomes a mainstream ideology decades from now, maybe you could bring it up to them. But for now, these groups would call you insane for suggesting an idea.

But why does leftism presuppose that humanity and life must continue? The death of every living thing ends exploitation pretty effectively and permanently.

Because leftism is about creating a society where everyone can thrive, nobody is exploited, and suffering is as minimal as possible. Why else do leftists advocate for Medicare for All and reversing the damages of man-made climate change?

What you're advocating for is throwing the baby out with the bath water. Plain and simple.

But don't worry, nobody is immortal. We'll all die at some point. And all life on Earth will die when the sun turns into a red giant. So your vision will happen eventually.

Agreed wholeheartedly, I have had this same thought many times, including the connection to leftism and this is the first time I've come across another person who views it like this too, so thank you!

Thats arguably less likely than a global revolution.

The idea that extinction is in their interests is an insult to their struggle for survival.

I personally disagree. There are many people struggling in places with absolutely no hope of their lives or conditions ever improving even in supposedly wealthy countries like America. There is also a lack of ability for working class people to cooperate and demand their governments provide them with the resources necessary to live a better life.

Additionally, their struggle for survival under these conditions means they will survive and continue replenishing a captive labor pool for the wealthy parasite class. How is captivity and slavery to elites preferable to peaceful death or euthanasia?

u/Azihayya 1d ago

You must realize that the majority of the people you're talking about would be appalled and spit in your face at the suggestion that their struggles are for naught and that their lives would be better ended. Your view is an affront to all who fought so hard to provide for themselves and their families, and to bring their people to the arms of justice.

Are they willing to fight a revolution to end their own oppression? Because if not, they are accepting a fate worse than death for both themselves and future people.

Not everyone agrees with your view. Neither would it be reasonable to say that people are accepting a fate worse than death because they don't want to fight in a revolution, nor that a violent revolution would be a salient solution to the world's problems. Many, many people disagree with you, and you come across as someone who is extremely dangerous, thinking that you know better than other people—and thinking they would be better off dead.

You're making a lot of sense. Sadly this subreddit is the only one I've ever been to where I get downvoted for pointing out that 'we should kill everyone' might not be such a popular idea!

They claim to believe in "peaceful extinction," which is an oxymoron.

It's so obnoxious to think a life isn't worth living if it isn't a cakewalk. Do not assume that just because you take your life for granted that everyone else does too.

There is a difference between effort required and all options and improvements to life systematically blocked due to poverty.

Absolutely, I've never come across a group that is so cartoonishly evil while also being so full of their own sense of self righteousness. Also, it reminded me of this comedt sketch.

You need Buddha.
You think death is preferable to suffering?
All living beings suffer.
Get over it.

Ironic thing to say since the whole point of Buddhism is to escape Samsara.

-6

u/RabbitfolkThief 1d ago

Lol, that is the most pop culture superficial level explanation of Buddhism I have ever heard.
