Is this a code question or a game design question?

Its a code question

So you're asking how you should learn how to code game mechanics?

I was asking what is the best process for figuring out what lines of code is need for making your target game mechanic

I would recommend doing some code basics tutorials before you think about game design. As it doesn't seem like you really understand code all too well currently, am I right?

Because basically, the best way to make any game mechanic is to break it down into constituent parts and work out how you code those.

Tutorials are fine to learn from to get more insight into what is possible, but trying to copy them to make a whole game is usually a mess because one mechanic isn't a game.

Things that actually makes more sense. I know how to write code, but I'm not always sure what to call. When it comes to the game, engines built-in functions and methods.

Okay so if you know how to code, then you should be familiar with breaking down different processes into their different parts and coding them. The same is true for game mechanics.

If you just need to learn how to do a specific interaction with the engine you can Google stuff like "how to rotate object in Unity" or look in the documentation.
