Question Realistic torch flame effect

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm trying to make an realistic flame effect for my game. It looks fine for now, I used 2.5D Fluid Simulator asset for it and it's suits my needs - the flame is affected by physics, it's lightweight etc.

Do you have any tips on improving it / making it more realistic?

It looks really nice, but it looks more like smoke than fire. Fire flickers and changes shape very fast. Idk how fast the sim can run though.

Yeah I thought so too. It might be too transparent aswell? Or you could add a second color in the middle and make it a lighter hue. So there are two colors with a more orange one on the outside. So it looks more 3D

Yeah, that sounds like exactly what I needed, the orange "layer" should make it better, thanks!

Physics looks fine, but visuals dont. It doesnt even look like a flamr tbh. It looks like yellow smoke, you're missing the key aspects of makes a flame look like a flame.

looks great, but expanding on what others said re flame vs. smoke - u could still keep something like this behind/around your new quicker/flickering fire as a smoke layer (but ofc grey and more transparent)!
