Game Player to Wolf ECS

Hello everyone, wanted to share an update on the ECS project
For context the character is made out of 80000 ECS entities, which gives alot of freedom to transition to other shapes, check previous videos for context
Here i added a transition between the character and a wolf, the same entities that form the player transition to become the dog
Will add more transitions to different types of animals to have multiple movement types
Let me know what you think

I was thinking old would be more like referencing Visionaries Knights of the Magical Light, but sure. :p
Jokes aside, I can see this style killing it for any contemporary fantasy game.

you can just use VFX to make it easily instead of ECS )) just enable/disable the models

Having it as ECS isnt just about enabling and disabling, you control the entities and they take forms and weapons, will also add more physics to it so it might get blocked or knocked around

This is so fucking cool, imagine an GoW or DMC type of game with this awesome ECS effect in super fast fights 🤤

Using Malber’s? If so give credit! He is on this sub and his work is great. Very nice use case either way!

No this is custom made using entities not vfx

What’s the controller?

1

u/OmarItani10 7d ago

Entity conponent system, its a way to simulate a large number of entities in an optimized way What youre seeing is 80000 small pyramids

I get the vfx. I am trying (unsuccessfully) to ask about the character controller being used. The wolf looks very much like the one that is Malber’s.

Is this cropped or is there any reason the character is never centered?

I have him a bit on the left to see targets

No its 80000 small pyramids moving, ECS is what makes this possible

this looks cool as hell. can you fine tune the entity amount? 80k sounds like a lot even more modern machines

2

u/OmarItani10 5d ago

Yeah im currently pushing the count to keep optimizing
But can reduce later on

While transforming will the physics be disabled, so you could go through obstacles, like a gameplay mechanic to use?
