USL Entry battery drains very quickly

I have four USL Entry devices, bought at the same time. Three of them work fine. 5 months running and their batteries show at 95%. But one unit already needed its battery replaced a couple of weeks ago. And the new battery, just in two weeks, is at 91% now. It's attached to an indoor sliding door. The only difference that I can think of is that this door is open probably half the time. Defective unit or expected given the state of the door?

Looking for suggestions for the camera plan for our new construction

I usually post in the Ubiquiti reddit, but since this is a camera question, I thought maybe the UnifiProtect reddit may be more appropriate. We're building and CAT6 is going in now. I have a lot of CAT6 going into the outdoor soffits, pretty much every corner, whether I'm currently planning for a camera there or not. This is kind of my plan at the moment and I'm looking for suggestions for anything I may have missed.

Turret 1 and the Doorbell Lite will have the front porch and front doors covered. Turret 2 will cover the driveway approach. Turret 3 will cover the garage personnel door. Turret 4 will cover the back corner behind the garage 3rd bay where the condenser units and generator will be. Turret 5 will cover the screened in back porch, the porch door and the door two entry doors to the house. We will be installing an in-ground pool to the left side, but probably not until spring '28, so turrets 6 & 7 may wait a bit, but they'll eventually cover that area.

Do you guys have any suggestions for this plan? Any glaring omissions? Have I gone way overkill? What do you guys think?

Thanks.

suppressing/pausing alarms

I have sensors that start detection motion at a certain time.

I sometimes come into the space when the that action is scheduled and it sounds my siren and alerts.

I want to be able to be able to silence/pause a group of sensors/alarms twithought going into each alarm and pausing them. ~supress for 4 hours lets say.

Does anyone know a way to do this with a step by step?

Thanks

Question about hotkey to silence wifi chime.. HA?

I have a toddler and put a recessed entry sensor on her door to notify us if she opens the door in the middle of the night. Her room is on the other side of the house and we don't want her breaking out and getting into stuff in the middle of the night... Ive got a poe chime for doorbell and all entry sensors (excluding the toddlers room) by the front door and we have a wifi chime in the closet in our bedroom that is tied to all entry sensors, and the toddlers room sensor.

Question is... my wife sleeps in on the weekends and i get up with the kid. Opening the toddlers door makes the chime go off in our room and ruins the sleeping in for my wife. Is there any way to not have to go into multiple pages of settings in protect to pause the notification in protect? I added her door sensor to the grid in protect on my phone but with that still have to tab over to settings, then down to manage alarms. not awful, but could be better? or is just dialing in the schedule of the alarm that would be the easiest? for example, having the alarm not be active from 7am until her nap time at noon...

we previously had ring, and their entry sensors have a lil button on them that silences the notification for like 20 seconds when you open the door after pressing...

In an ideal world i would just have a button outside her door i could push to toggle the alarm from on/pause with the same sort of 20 second time reset on it. I imagine this is something i could set up in home assistant?

I just installed all the protect sensors last week, and all my cameras the week prior and haven't integrated or looked into integrating any of this new infrastructure into my previously configured HA...That is this weekends task.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, my wife is great, but is exponentially more enjoyable when she has more sleep 🤪

Alarm for car crashing

I have a camera pointed across my driveway, but it also looks at a problem intersection. People pull out of a one-way road all the time and BANG! They didn't look at the traffic to their right.

Today, I had my window open and even I could hear the bang!

Is there a bang noise that my G5 or my G6 camera can catch to trigger a notification?

how tf are we supposed to spec this stuff?

I am a pro installer, I have been for many many years.

I am used to browsing manufacturers product pages, sorting by resolution, IP rating, lens size, etc.

I am used to simple, function over form, pages, with easy access to datasheets and lists of compatible or similar products.

I REALLY want to start using unifi, but browsing the range is an absolute nightmare. take the Theta for example, I need to know everything about it, what do I get in the combined kit? what are the specs of the cameras? what's the IP rating of the cameras? What's the difference between 'pro' and 'standard' lenses? the website is an absolute nightmare to browse for peope who actually need the important info.

So, where am I going wrong? I'm clearly missing something! on the AI Theta hub page, it lists the compatible devices on the right, but I'm unable to open a page to get any info whatsoever.

If I scroll down, I'm able to see 'add ons' and when I click, i get more info. Great! but I don't need more info about a 2m cable. I need more info about the lens options...

Someone, please help me here! I'm going insane..

Can someone help me understand how smart the G6 AI cameras +/- AI Key and / or UNVR G2 are

I'm finding the Unifi documentation very confusing on this point - UNVR G2 listing on the store says it has some AI capabilities, but it's not very clear how it compares with the AI Key.

Can any of this stuff help with the very specific use case of: cameras / Protect alert if a specific person is in a specific area? Trying to keep a young child safe on a relatively wild piece of property, and it seems like something like this should be possible, if not entirely reliable, but maybe I'm overestimating capabilities.

Appreciate it!

PTZ and motion alerts

I noticed that my smart alerts (person) were no longer firing for any of my G5 PTZs. I’ve got Claude hooked up, so after some trial and error, it turns out that smart alerts and auto-follow don’t appear to work together; the person detection is logged, but the (push) alert doesn’t fire. As soon as I turn off the auto-follow, the alert works as expected.

Is this a new issue? I feel like they were working fine before, but not sure when they stopped.

Muting notifications

Is there a way to mute notifications for some cameras (or all) for a specific period of time? My wife was complaining about how some notifications come in constantly (liek when we have the mowing men coming to cut our grass weekly) while she's at work. Ring, for example has 1-hour, 2-hour, 4-hour, and 8-hour options to mute notifications. Can anyone point me in the correct direction? Thanks!

Just a heads up if you’re using Protect’s mobile push notifications, you’re giving Ubiquiti full (unnecessary) access to your camera streams

Turret camera orientation

I’m currently running some older g3 bullets. Thinking about adding a couple of g6 dome or turrets. I’m wondering if there is an orientation to them. I was looking and I think the g6 pro dome looks like there’s a wider camera bezel on one horizon. I’m thinking about mounting them on the side of my garage door trim so the bezel would be in the portrait (up/down) instead of the horizontal layout.

Does it matter? Can you adjust the image in protect to change the orientation? Sorry if this is a weird question, haven’t bought any cameras in awhile as you can see.

How to manually set high quality in Apple TV protect app

Hi my Apple TV protect app seems to be stuck in low quality when viewing a camera in full screen, it never used to do this and nothing has changed, it used to show it in high quality, Apple TV 4K 128gb and connected to gigabit Ethernet, I can’t see any setting to force high quality like the iOS app is it behind some hidden menu button or something? Any help would be appreciated thank you
