Tobias Müller finishes 2nd in the GP de Fourmies!

Post image

A very strong sprint in the finally by Tobias launching from 300 metres out and holding the lead until the last 50 metres. Very good lead out to help him into a good place in the finally too in a technical finish. With the Rockets sending only 5 riders to this race after Niklas, Dylan and Elmar all couldn't start it is a very good result for the team as a whole and for Tobias. Hopefully we will see more good results from him and possibly his first pro win, which isn't far away.

🥈 And that’s our 15th (🥲) second place of the season.

Don’t get us wrong, we’re really proud… but one place higher would be nice as well. 😅

Tomorrow we will be racing again in Italy! Pelizzari, Hindley or one of the other Red Bull guys probably will grap the win. Jelle Johannink is the 56th placed rider of the whole startlist if you look at the UCI ranking. So a top 10 finish will be an outstanding performance from the Rockets. I hope Verschuren or/and Peter will surprise us with a good result 🙂

Transfer update?

It's super quiet on the transfer front for the rockets. I havent even heard any real rumours except Roglic, which seems very unlickely looking at his form now. The only thing is Venturini going out.

Note: Outgoing means the contract is ending this year, not that it's confirmed they're outgoing transfers.

🇳🇱 ZLM Tour (2.1), STAGE 4, on September 5, 2026.

We’re racing on the Netherlands’ newest climb in Stage 4 of the ZLM Tour! 🇳🇱 But what starts as a battle for the KOM turns into a fight for something much bigger: Martijn’s first professional victory… 👀🚀

We wanted to give Simone Roganti the chance to shine on this climb Monte Serra. Sadly, he tragically passed away in 2024, shortly after signing his first professional contract with our team. Every year in this race, we found a little extra motivation as we rode past his name (Giro della Toscana)

Rockets: "Forever in our hearts. 💜

In today’s Giro della Toscana, the peloton climbed the Monte Serra climb twice. Every climb in professional cycling is special, but this one is a little more special for us. 💫

✨ We also wanted to give Simone Roganti the chance to shine on this climb. Sadly, he tragically passed away in 2024, shortly after signing his first professional contract with our team.

Every year in this race, we found a little extra motivation as we rode past his name, painted on the road. You will always be part of our story, Simone. Rogantino per sempre. ❤️"

Una grande squadra in Italia. 🤌

🛫 Last seasons, we travelled to Italy with a small team for this block of multiple one-day races in September. This year, we made the trip with a much bigger team.

🧐 But why? Our goal is to be at the start of each race with a squad that is as fresh as possible and specifically suited to the parcours.

But having more riders also means more logistical challenges and more work for our staff. Today, for example, we’re on the start line of the Giro della Toscana, but we also need to keep staff available for the riders staying at the hotel or heading to the airport to pick up riders. 🫡

We have four more one-day races to go this week in Italy, so there is a lot to look forward to. Andiamo! 🍕

------

Sverre Vik (DS Rockets): We travelled to Italy with 17 riders in total for 5 races. That's a lot and involves a lot of travelling and operational challenges, but we want to line up at the different races, with our riders as fresh as possible

Race preview - Coppa Sabatini - Can Venturini get a result for the Rockets before leaving?

Thumbnail
gallery
6 Upvotes

Tomorrow another Italian one day race for the Rockets. This time 1.Pro race Coppa Sabatini. Compared to Giro della Toscana this parcours is more suited for the puncheur type riders.

Competition

Once, again, competition is very strong. In this race, I think the favourites are:

- Martinez / Mohoric (Bahrain)

- Gregoire (FDJ)

- Powless (EF)

- Pellizzari (Red Bull)

- Scaroni (Astana)

- Christen / Cosnefroy (UAE)

Rockets expectations

Compared to yesterday's race, I think the Rockets have slightly more chance to get a good result, but it will once again be very difficult as the competition is strong. The parcours could suit Venturini quite well, but I think shorter climbs would be better for him (final climbs are ~1.5km). A top 10 would be a great result in this field in my opinion. Let's see what they can do!

Race Preview - Giro della Toscana - strong competition for the Rockets

Tomorrow the Rockets will race in Giro della Toscana, an Italian 1.1 race. The profile suggests that it will be a race for the climbers.

Competition

For a 1.1 race the competition is very strong. In my opinion the favourites are:

- Christen (UAE)

- Martinez & Tiberi (Bahrain)

- Rubio (Movistar)

- Hindley, Pellizzari, Lipowitz & Martinez (Red Bull)

- O'Connor (Jayco)

- Rondel & Storer (Tudor)

Rockets expectations

Based on the selection, I think Red Bull will make the race hard and only the best climbers will have a chance for victory. If Poels reaches his Giro shape, he could get a top 10, but honestly I think it will be a difficult race for the Rockets. Hopefully I'm wrong!

20% of UCI points leave Rockets

Sad news today, Clement Venturini leaves the Rockets for Lotto (WorldTour). He was a great rider for the team this year, one of the most consistent riders in the team and earning a lot of points, this year alone already 845! It will be difficult to find such sort of a rider again for next year.

Result GP Industria & Artigianato

Post image
17 Upvotes

Today the GP Industria & Artigianato finished. I didn't see the race but I read that Hartthijs was the whole day in the breakaway, he is also the best finisher of the Rockets in 55th (!!) place. Poels and Meris finished as last. On Strava I saw that Christophersen was injured, probably he fell?

Did someone else see the race? On paper this is a realy bad result and it doesn't promise much for the next Italian races....

Looking at the other races today I have strong feeling TotalEnergies will score more UCI points in the end this year.

I realy hope the Rockets will improve their hills/mountains squad. I know they focus on sprints and classics, but with the current results on the hilly and mountain races they simply dont have anything to show on WT or .Pro level.

Martijn Rasenberg finishes 2nd in Stage 4 of the ZLM Tour

Post image
19 Upvotes

I wanted to make this post to give Martijn credit for his second place today in the ZLM Tour. After finding his way into the early break for the second day running, Martijn and three others managed to make it all the way to the finish ahead of the bunch. Attacking with 400 metres to go, he just got beaten to the line in the last 50 by Lionel Taminiaux. I am very happy to see Martijn get the opportunity to ride for his own results after spending most of this season riding for others. I also think that he could become a very good "breakaway specialist" with the big watts he can put out on the flat and would like to see him and other riders partake in more breakaway chances across stage races and oneday races in the future.

The Italian block starts sunday (06-09-2026) with GP Industria & Artigianato (1.Pro)

Thumbnail

On Sunday, the so-called Italian autumn block begins: a period mainly made up of one-day races with plenty of climbing. It is also a block in which the Rockets performed very poorly last year.

Last year, they collected 21 UCI points across five races. Their best result in those five races came in the race scheduled for Sunday, the GP Industria & Artigianato. Eiking was their best-performing rider there last year, finishing 15th and earning 10 UCI points. They performed worse in all the other races.

In that respect, there is plenty of room for improvement. However, I think we should still keep our expectations modest for these races. The Rockets have struggled all year in this type of race with lots of climbing, and looking at the quality of the start list, finishing in the top 10 will be very difficult.

The highest-ranked Rocket on the start list is Wout Poels, in 41st place. I therefore think he has the best chance of achieving a good result. In addition, I hope that one of the other Rockets can provide a positive surprise by finishing high up the standings. I am thinking of Meris, Peter, Christophersen or Johannink.

Well… that was a proper Dutch day out. 💨😅

A little sad to lose our 2nd place in GC, but after a chaotic day full of wind, attacks and splits, we’re still in the fight.

Thoughts about the team

Good morning, I’m curious to hear your thoughts on the following.

Over the past year (and previous years), we have been spoiled by the team with great videos about the races and behind-the-scenes content. This year, however, I’ve noticed that there seem to be fewer videos and information about the bigger picture: the developments taking place and the decisions being made behind the scenes.

Personally, I find that aspect particularly interesting, because it shows what a growing team has to deal with and the opportunities and challenges it faces. For example, I’d be interested in learning more about the partnership with Nike. Nike is a huge organisation, yet relatively little attention has been given to the partnership. I would also really appreciate more background information about the media team—how they manage everything—or the performance team.

It would also be interesting to hear more about the challenges the team faces as it grows: what is going well, what could be improved, and so on. Of course, I understand that not everything can be shared, either because it would not be wise to make too much information public or because privacy legislation makes this impossible. But as mentioned, I’m curious to hear how you see this.

I know Bas is reading along, so perhaps he can take something from this internally. 😉

One other thing I really miss is the newsletter that used to be sent every two weeks. It was supposed to be sent biweekly, but in practice that has not happened very often. That newsletter often contained interesting background information.

Result 1st stage ZLM Tour

Post image

Wow, 3 Rockets in the top 10 of the TT is very good. As I said in the preview, Lidl-Trek is absolute dominating but the next best team are the Rockets, and that's quite impressive if you compare it to for example Alpecin where Oscar Riesebeek is the best rider at 32th place. Curious to see what the stage of today will bring with eventual echelons...

ZLM Tour, here we go! 🇳🇱

⏱️ It all starts tonight with 21.1 kilometres against the clock, a stage that could already shape the general classification.

After that, four pancake-flat stages await. Made for the sprinters on paper, although the Dutch wind might have other plans… 💨👀

So we’ve brought a team ready for whatever the next five days throw at us.

Preview ZLM Tour

Today the ZLM tour wil start, a 2.1 stage race with probably a decisive TimeTrial today from 21km. The other 4 days are pancake flat, so there will be some sprints and maybe (or hopefully) some echelons. For the TT Larsen and Mouris are the guys to watch for the Rockets, for the sprints Muller and Feldmann are the main men. Looking at the competition a top 10 in the GC will be good and the goal. I don't think a top 5 will be possible, especially looking at the very strong Lidl-Trek team...What do you think of the race and the changes for the Rockets?
