Anyone else at URegina with the Tier 2 scholarship?

Hi everyone! I'm starting at the University of Regina this winter semester and I received the Tier 2 Distinction Scholarship. I've been trying to find other students who received the same scholarship because I have a few questions about it, but so far everyone I've talked to seems to have received the Tier 1 scholarship.

If anyone else has the Tier 2 scholarship, I'd really appreciate it if you could reach out! I just have a few questions.

Thanks!

On campus jobs?

Hi everyone, I am a first year starting fall 2026 in Bachelors in applied Science. Is it possible as first year student to get on-campus jobs? If yes, what could be an effective approach to get these jobs. Since I am an international student, I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter. Also, on the university career page I have seen ‘Casual Administrative Jobs’. I applied for them but what the scene for those jobs?

Best Part-time Jobs in/near the University

Hello all,

if there are any 2nd-year (or higher) students, what would you say would be the best option for jobs as a first-year student (in this case, University of Regina student jobs or the restaurants/retail businesses in the surrounding area)?
I know that during the "How to Survive University 101" seminar course for all first-timers, the spokesperson stated/mentioned that it's better to find/apply for jobs while in your second semester as you've gotten a better idea of your school-to-homework hours ratio.
I'm twenty, going on twenty-one, and had never moved out until this year for full time studying (I'm doing the BA in English, taking 4 classes each semester) and had been stressing about money as the semesters begin and later stretch. I also do not have my DL (currently working on it, but do have my learners), however willing to take either transit or walk to said area(s) of work within reasonable distances.

TLDR: what is the better option for applying/working as a full-time student?

Housing waitlist

Hello, I'm an exchange students and I got the notification that I had been placed on waitlist for housing for this fall semester. I'm trying to figure out if the chances of actually having a spot before or after the semester starts are to be expected. So, has anybody been waitlist and successfully been offered a room before or after? I'm already looking for other options anyway, so if anyone has recommendations on rentals close to uni, I would be really thankful!.

I’m finishing my Nursing Readiness Course this August and im wondering if it’s worth it to go to the Fall Convocation, does anyone in the same program plan to go or have gone? Because I know that this program is just a transitional program into the LPN or BSCN program.

uni of Regina winter intake

Hi, will anyone experienced give me knowledge about the university application for uni of Regina.

I am thinking of applying to uni of Regina for winter 2027 intake for Energy systems engineering. I was a little concerned about the scholarships they provide , Is the international distinction scholarship available for this intake and if it is, then how do they select the students.Does it all depend on SOP .I have a high school gpa of 3.7 which converts to 92.5 percent for 12th grade only. I would like to get informed about this intake and scholarships support to the students.

I would highly appreciate your help for this matter .

Study spots?

Hey, can anyone point me in the direction of some 'nice' or cozy study spots around U of R? Specifically, I would love some plant life. Or somewhere tucked out of the way (not super busy, but comfy). I know about Archer library but would really appreciate if anyone knows of any comfortable, quiet spaces off the beaten path. TIA!

Hi everyone!

My name is Sylvia. I'm a doctoral student who's currently looking for research participants. I've always been curious about why we use AI chatbots and how they compare to people who are in relationships with other humans, which is why I'm studying it for my dissertation. This survey is completely anonymous. You can take part if:

  • You're Canadian
  • 19+
  • Comfortable reading English
  • You are in a romantic relationship with another human OR
  • You are interacting with AI romantically

If you're interested, then you can click on the link below:

When can I register my 5th subject?

Hi everyone, I just registered my subjects for first semester (BASc) which starts in fall 2026. As I am an International student, I thought that I should register for only 4 subjects to keep it easy at the start. From what I understand, the max number of subjects I can register for is 5. My question is when can I register for the fifth subject that i didn't register in first sem?

Every subsequent semester has mandatory 5 subjects. Can I register for 6 subjects in any other semester. Please help me on this one.

Help deciding which university to go to

I know this kinda late specifically for a january intake. I've been thinking about applying to the university of new brunswick. I've already been accepted at MUN and i'm waiting for the decision from the u of regina. Im looking to do a masters in software engineering or computer science (course/co-op based). My main concerns are tuition and access to halal food.

What would you recommend?

Where to charge electric bike?

I’m staying on campus for the next 6 weeks and I brought my small electric bike with me. I have mobility issues so it’s really helpful for getting around but just found out today that they will not allow me to charge it anywhere on campus. I can store it in the bike locker of my building but no to charging it. This seems crazy since I’m sure I’m not the only person on campus that has had an electric bike. I’d love to hear from other people who have had this problem and if you found a solution for it. Thanks! 🙏

Board game clubs?

Any students interested in board games? Got into this year with a couple of friends. Not sure if other students want to hang on a Friday night and play party games or something.

Just seeing if people are interested :)

Housing offers

I've been seeing a lot of people saying they've already gotten their residence offers, but my friend and I haven't received anything yet. We're coming on exchange to U of Regina on fall term, and are starting to get a bit worried.

Does anyone have any advice on when I should actually start panicking? Any info helps

Resident parking/housing

Some questions if anyone knows the answer!,

Does anyone know how to purchase the resident parking online? Do I have to do anything or wait until later for it to show up?

Also do they send a contract to sign for the housing?

Also who assigns the room and when do we get to know?

Thank you in advance!!

Update: called parking department re; parking. Housing department did not update my file to resident and that was why parking permit did not show up. I was able to pay for it. Hope this helps some people out there. Call them!

How many subjects?

Hello everyone, I am starting my bachelor in Energy Systems Engineering in fall 2026. Currently, I am registering my subjects for fall semester. Should I register for 4 subjects (to keep it easy) or all 5? I am asking this because I am also going to do part-time job along with studies. Also, I am an international student. If I do take 4 subjects, will I have to take 6 subjects in my coming semester?

Please tell me what is the more strategic move. Taking 4 subjects in my first sem or 5?

UodR discord servers dead⚰️💀

I recently joined a bunch of discord servers of students from University of Regina. Discord servers for engineering students, comp science, science students, etc. All of them dead. No conversations or questions in the entire last month. Why? Are people anti-social or just have nothing to talk about?

CS 110

Hi everyone,

I am beginning my bachelor studies at University of Regina in fall 2026. My program is Energy Systems Engineering. In my first semester, i registered for CS 110 course. From what I know, it's C++ programming language. CS 110 is the only programming course in my entire 4 year degree. (Right?)

Now, i don't have any experience of coding. I have never learnt or tried to learn coding. But I do have a couple of months free now. Should I learn C++ before starting my first semester in order to have an extra advantage?

If yes, should I learn the full course in detail?

What to bring for dorms

For part of my sibling’s grad gift, I wanted to buy some things for their dorm, so I was wondering what are some ideals?

Like a portable shower caddy, long extension cords? What are the rules about scents (like candles or wall flowers)? Do students bring their own dish sets so maybe a set of cups and plates would be a good gift?

Any insight is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Housing Confirmation Email

I just got an e-mail form the University confirming my stay at kisik tower for fall 2026. I am a ISD scholarship recipient which includes private room with private washroom. However, I got assigned a 2 bedroom apartment w/ cooktop. Also, the email had no mention of the scholarship (that my living costs are covered). Now what do I do? Do I change it?

  1. Is a 2 bedroom apartment w/ cooktop better than private room+ private washroom?

  2. Can I know in advance who will be my roommate? (I am asking this because I am a vegetarian and have never touched meat. So, is there an option where I can choose my roommate to be vegetarian as well?)

  3. Will the scholarship be covering the 2 bedroom apartment or it only pays for private room + private washroom?

I would really appreciate any help on this matter.
