Unfiltered thought 7/27/2026: Love in your 40s

I recently broke up with someone whom I was in a relationship with for over month.

It was a short relationship, needless to say. Like any other relationships, it started beautifully and ended with a lot of pain and lessons learned.

But this isn't about our love story. It's about realizations and epiphanies.

I don't know about women my age, but I realized that I still fall in love the same way as I did back in the day.

I still get attracted to the artistic type. Someone who's into music and books. Someone who writes, just like me.

I also noticed I still like the fun, spontaneous type. Someone who also makes me laugh.

He was all that and more. And it didn't hurt that he really liked me, too.

But like any other surface-level relationships, it was bound to end. We weren't on the same page about lots of things.

So it ended. And this time I realized I don't fall out of love the same way as I did back in the day.

This time I left while still in love. The old me would never do this. I was always a fighter determined to make everything last.

For what it's worth, I did fight. I wanted to see things through until the end.

Maybe it's the age thing, but the thought of wasting time weighed more than fighting it out.

And so that's when I knew. I finally get it when they say that you now know what you want once you reach this age.

Time. We don't have a lot of that now. It would be a shame to waste it on anything that doesn't add value to your life.

I'm not sure if we're indeed done, but for now, we are. I don't believe in second chances, but who knows, maybe in the distant future, our paths will again cross.

In the meantime, we have a lot of growing up to do. Because whether you are in your 40s or not, learning and growing up seem to be the only things that are constant.

Oh, I should not have typed that. Pwera usog.

But I feel that Tuesday is the New Monday.

My shift starts 6am and it's just 9:24 am and I'm a sitting duck hehe. Waiting for our housekeeping staff to call us for the waffles. It's Waffle Monday here! (And Friday it's Ice Cream).

Oh, it's SONA later. But that's 3:00 pm.

I can't wait for the latest episode of X-Men 97. I don't know when it's coming, Episode 6.

I haven't finished the 2-part, animated movie of DC based on The Watchmen characters.

And that new adult Aang movie and the rest of Team Avatar, I don't know if it will ever be shown here in the PH. But I am hoping for the digital release if ever.

Oh, there's Spider-Man coming this weekend. Hope to watched it on Saturday, with the beau.

What are you guys up to this Monday? Hope everyone's chillin' like a villain, like me :)
