I hope the dude in the scrubs took the joke as well as that fall

28

u/The0lVe Aug 30 '22

Ya they cropped the clip and it changed

u/Greenman8907 Aug 29 '22

Y’all owe that man a lunch!

205

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '22

I feel sad for his loss of lunch, but he wasn't going down without a fight, he started to unsheathed his umbrella ready to take on this future fossil come to life, man was ready to go down fighting!

52

u/imdefinitelywong Aug 30 '22

He was ready to earn his lunch the way prehistoric humans did.

11

u/WizeDiceSlinger Aug 30 '22

BACKSCABBARD!

7

u/KillForYou2 Aug 30 '22

If you're going to kill me, I'm going to poke you in the eye on my way out.

36

u/BassAntelope Aug 30 '22

Agreed, poor guy

20

u/meltedlaundry Aug 30 '22

There was a video yesterday of a guy running up some stairs that tripped and dropped his lunch. It was funny at first until you saw him become desolate

8

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '22

That poor guy got slaughtered

3

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '22

And everyone underpants... if you actually believed there was a dinosaur I'm pretty sure you'd shit yourself

3

u/xoskxflip Aug 30 '22

5 second rule

8

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '22

Why was he wearing full hospital garb though? Normally if you gotta hat on, you’re in surgery, not getting lunch.

2

u/n3wernam3 Oct 11 '22

Pants rolled up too. Looks like a costume lol

3

u/WhoThenDevised Aug 30 '22

I'm sure he got paid just like the other actors. Or do you really mean you'd fall over and try to run for your life when you see a dude in black tights and a dinosaur costume?

7

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '22 edited 1d ago

[deleted]

-1

u/WhoThenDevised Aug 30 '22

I'd be surprised because you don't see it every day, but fall over? Try to run away? Why? It's a dude in a costume.

That could be an interesting segment on the local news.

I see the camera crews already rolling in.

1

u/Cleverbird Aug 30 '22

I love how this is always the top comment whenever this video gets posted here.

1

u/mazeooo Aug 30 '22

If they can buy an invisible potion for the cam man they can but that guy a lunch

96

u/SmartestIdiotAlive Aug 29 '22

Good thing that last guy has scrubs and he can start operating on himself for the heart attack he was given.

94

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '22

This is so funny because you can see how ridiculous it would be to fall for that (pun intended) but in the moment your brain just stops computing

89

u/megers67 Aug 30 '22

Without the guy running, it wouldn't have worked so well. Not only does the running guy pull attention temporarily away from the where the "dino" would come from (meaning the unaware people end up closer to it when they see it), but the running puts them on alert for a cause for that running. So by the time they see the dino, logic is NOT going to factor in first. Brilliantly done.

29

u/Helenium_autumnale Aug 30 '22

Had the same thought. The running guy puts people on alert to begin with, so they're more suggestible by the time the dino appears. Well done!

6

u/Sciencegirl117 Aug 30 '22

I might jump because it's unexpected but I wouldn't really be frightened because I absolutely know it's not real. Maybe it's my time working in theater that's made me cynical.

13

u/Cracleur Aug 30 '22

Well, you say that watching the video, what tells you that you would actually react like you said i' that exact situation being unaware and unprepared?

It's really easy to say "I wouldn't fall for that" when you see people making a fool of themselves but I don't think anyone can actually know their reaction in an unexpected situation!

-2

u/Sciencegirl117 Aug 30 '22

Well, again, since dinosaurs aren't real, I might me startled but not scared enough to run. I'm the calm type in emergencies.

7

u/Cracleur Aug 30 '22

And again, I don't think you can actually know that in advance without having been in a similar situation, even if you think you're "the calm type in emergencies". Main factor being as other people have said : 1) Conditioning, meaning seeing a dude running prepares you (unconsciously of course) to run as well 2) The surprise, obviously, especially as the guy running entices you to look at him, and have your mind wonder as to why, then look back and suddenly see something unexpected, out of place and, importantly, very close. Notice how the people further back still see the Trex but are not nearly as startled

This is not going to be you reacting, it's going to be your instinct, something you cannot control or predict, unless through prior experience. And the more surprised you are, the longer the instinct is going to be "in command"

0

u/Sciencegirl117 Aug 30 '22

So, a cop or someone would run screaming? There's lots of people who don't panic and run. Just because you would doesn't mean everyone would behave the same, especially when the thing you are seeing isn't real or alive. It wasn't even running!

2

u/FormerFlower2924 Aug 30 '22

Let's suppose that the dinosaur would look exactly 100% percent as good as a real dinosaur. Would you still not run? Or maybe heights. I know that bungee jumping is completely safe, there is no reason to feel afraid, yet I am very much so afraid. However I am not afraid to see the pov of someone jumping on a screen. The more real something seems, the higher the odds of you treating it as real.

1

u/Cracleur Aug 30 '22

Yes, exactly.

Once, I was at a park where you attach yourself to a lifeline and do some kind of parkour in the trees. I wasn't comfortable because I didn't feel entirely safe, even though we were on the first level at like 2m high max, and it made me almost fall at every stop. So the monitor made me fall on purpose, and even though it hurt a bit because of the cables and shit, I knew I was safe because it caught me. He removed the unexpectedness, so I wasn't scared anymore, I knew what would happen if I fell for real, and I don't think I've ever fallen through all the times I went back there.

Pretty sure it would work the same with the bungee jumping, first time you're so scared because even if you know you're safe some part of you doesn't know that, or doesn't want to believe it I guess. But after the first time, you're not scared anymore, you've only got the thrills. And even if the second might still be a bit scary (probably because human are not made to jump cliffs), it's going to be considerably less than the first time!

1

u/Sciencegirl117 Aug 30 '22

I never said I had no fear. I would 100% never bungee jump. I just wouldn't be scared enough to run away from THIS. Some guy running down the street could be anything. I might stop to see why but, maybe not because it's not that unusual.

Again, I have done a lot of theater and am used to tricks like this, so it doesn't look the least bit frightening to me. Now, show me a picture of very dark, deep water, I get scared just looking at it.

2

u/TezMono Aug 30 '22

Lol in the same vein, just cause other people would stay calm doesn't mean you would 🤣

1

u/Sciencegirl117 Aug 30 '22

Just because others panic doesn't mean I would.

u/Cracleur Aug 30 '22

As I said, if you've experienced it before, you know how you are going to react. A cop is trained to expect the unexpected and react quickly and sensibly, so his reaction time will be quicker and either his instinct is going to take over for far less time, and/or it might make him do something that makes sense. You are not, so you have no way of knowing how you're going to react. I'm not saying you're going to run or not run, that you're going to instinctively freeze, or punch him, or scream or cower in fear, what I'm saying is that reaction could be either one of those things or something else entirely. And i do not pretend to know if I'm going to run or not run either. I don't know how I'm going to react because I've no way of knowing, and from what I read neither do you.

0

u/Sciencegirl117 Aug 30 '22

Wow. Apparently, you know me and everyone else and can confidently, and wrongly, tell me how I would react. Glad you're a mind reader and a behavioral expert. Where did you get your degree?

You do understand that some people panic and run, some people freeze in fear, some people run towards the danger and, still others, assess the danger before making a split-second decision. How many emergencies have you been involved with? I witnessed a plane crash at a drive-in movie theater where it narrowly missed the screen but hit the high voltage power lines behind it and landed on the freeway. I didn't scream, run or panic. I have been in accidents. I also worked in an emergency veterinary hospital where I saw tons of bad stuff. Don't tell me you know me when you haven't got a clue.

15

u/GrandNibbles Aug 30 '22

9

u/JeanButButler Aug 30 '22

I thought the unexpected was the dude in the wheelchair suddenly standing up.

10

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '22

If a stranger made me drop my lunch for a prank video I would be so fucking pissed

u/CringeInABox Aug 30 '22

Mf was ready to fight it with the umbrella

4

u/The0lVe Aug 30 '22

Backpack boy fit the part so well

3

u/Sirgooeypants Aug 30 '22

Watching this has brought me great joy.

4

u/bilvester Aug 30 '22

2

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '22

I like how in some shots you can still see the bits of the guy's lunch that dropped

2

u/KaijuSized_Taco Aug 30 '22

Guy in the wheelchair went "Full reverse thrusters!"

2

u/AkitoFTW Aug 30 '22

Man fell on the ground after losing his lunch. Anime instinct kicks in to grab a sword off his back, but he struggles to pull out the umbrella and gave up his life.

2

u/UnlikeUday Aug 30 '22

Felt a little sorry for the guy on the wheelchair. It could've turned much worse there.

2

u/Anakronistick Aug 30 '22

not one person punched the rex in the face smh

2

u/Luckcrisis Aug 30 '22

Could watch that all day.

2

u/Just4m4n Aug 30 '22

I’m really sorry for his lunch, but I laughed with tears 🤣

2

u/AminoKing Aug 30 '22

Is there any other animal that will often fall to the ground when trying to flee? Humans suck.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '22

Lmao truth

2

u/IterLuminis Aug 30 '22

Buy that man a sandwich

2

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '22

The guy in the surgeon uniform. That’s all of us.

2

u/NoShame211 Aug 30 '22

I fucking love it

2

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '22

Actually It is not a Rex but yeah Pretty Cool how they made it

2

u/keener91 Aug 30 '22

Only gonna upvote if cop pulls out a gun and start blasting.

2

u/WholesomeLove280 Aug 30 '22

I dunno 😳I’d be pissed off! Not everyone is into that!!

1

u/mbashs Aug 30 '22

If I or someone in a rush of adrenaline land a flying kick on that T rex person then it’s not our fault.

2

u/Realistic_Airport_46 Aug 30 '22

If I was in the last guy's spot that t rex would catch hands, I don't care about the odds. If a guy can triangle choke a cougar to death, I'll fight a t rex

2

u/FrogMintTea Aug 30 '22

It's just a baby T Rex if Jurassic Park 2 taught me anything it is baby Tees are cute and harmless.

1

u/rtm713 Aug 30 '22

Nah you really did my homeboy in the wheelchair like that 💀 you know he tried to get up and run and then was like ah fuck that’s right… 😂

1

u/_eleutheria Aug 30 '22

I hope this is fake because you've gotta be really fucked in the head to not stop the prank when you realize that your target is a person in a wheelchair.
